Plan to deal on TSX this Friday.

Hey all, I got a call from James at ACURA Dealer and told me that he got a brand new 2005 CGP TSX with ebony, non-navigation for $27,760 dollar, but He said that he will get a good deal for me. I will go there this Friday and do paperwork and see what happens. I am sure that my credit reports is very good and had only debt on Visa, no other debt. Good luck on me and I will let u guy know what's going on.

Hopefully they will come down from that number quite a bit. That's a bit high, IMHO.

05 Brand New, CGP, Navi, AT, Mud Flaps, Trunk Tray, Wheel Locks, Wheel Warrantee = $27,650. I did all my dealing via e-mail... printed out my final quote and walked into the dealer with it. Easiest auto purchase I ever made. Internet rules! When dealers compete... you win!

Good luck. After buying several cars thru the internet and the 'traditional' way, I have a couple pointers:
1. Wether you're going thru the internet or bargaining in person, obtain your FICO score beforehand. This way, you won't have some salesperson trying to give crap about your credit and make it seem like he's doing you a favor.
2. If you're bargaining thru the internet, obtain multiple quotes and tell each sales manager "I'm buying today. What is your best price?" Salepeople don't care if you're buying in a few days -- they're only concerned with TODAY.
3. Use a non-haggle program to get an idea what the car is selling for. AAA, Costco, and Cardirect have been my best resources in the past. Dealer could usually go a few hundred dollars below the non haggle price.
4. When dealing in person, the salepeople use standard tactics to get the most money out of you.
- Most will take out a '4 square' worksheet. Square #1 is the model, options, and sometimes VIN number. #2 is their starting negotiating price. They'll usually write the MSRP '+ fees'. #3 is the monthly payment you could afford. Finally, square #4 is the trade-in cost they will give you.
- DO NOT talk about square #3. This is where most get ripped off. Negotiate sales price ONLY.
- Most will play the 'good cop / bad cop' tactic where the person in front of you is your friend and they have to ask for 'permission'. Whenever they tell you, "let me check on that with my manager," they need a minute to think of their next comeback.

Do your homework and you'll do fine. Anything below the AAA price is a good deal to me.

I payed that for a TSX w/ navi... I would say that it isn't too good of a price and if they aren't willing to work it down a bit, take a pass...

This might sound a little deceptive, but I feel that it works with some dealerships. When I was pricing a 2005 Accord, before I bought my TSX, I just found out what the invoice price was and calculated my payments based on that. Went into the dealership, told them another dealer offered it to me at that price but if he wanted my sale - he would have to, at least, match it. They did.

Ok.. and then I went to another dealership and just bought a TSX anyways, but just saying

I was quoted $25,850 for a MSM 6sp. non navi in Sacramento.I brought that to my local dealer and he went for it also.I've given them a $500 deposit to locate/order the car and if it doesn't arrive soon I'm going to shoot for $25,000 plus tax etc.just shy of $28 K out the door.

I drove test and love it. TSX was so cool and fast. James and I were working on TSX for an hour and half because I was trying to get a good deal on car payment. James told me that it will be $500 to 530 per month but my credit report is very good and offered me $481.00 on buyout with no down payment instead of lease. It was kind of too much money for car payment. The car cost $27,760 at $482.00 but he offered to take $1,000 off then it will be $26,760 and car payment will be $464.00. He said that he can offered $421.00 on lease for 4 years then buyout for 3 years at $340.00. I prefer to buyout. He asked me how much I was looking on car payment, I told him I was looking at $400.00. He also offered me $400.00 on lease if I decide to take car home. I told him that I will think about it and let him know pretty soon. I was kind of clumsy and hard decision. I kind of disappointment a little but I am going to try save money for down payment in a few months. I wish I could get 2004. I saw 04' black TSX at Honda Perfection, only 10k mileage at $24,670.00, that's good price but color that I want CG. I kind of frustration to find 2004.

Sorry to hear that...But almost 2 years here and you never thought about how much your payments would be?

Dont you have a bunch of mods already bought? Why not sell them and use for a down payment

Not so easy when you want an MT and they don't have any. When dealers can't compete, you pay more. If more than one dealer in the area has the same car sitting on the lot, then you're in a much better position. If none of them have it, internet or not, it's a lot harder to bargain. The dealers want to clear the cars out that are sitting on the lot, b/c they are paying interest on their inventory.

I paid $25,250 for my non-navi. I think that's fairly close to invoice if I remember right. Always do a little homework, start negotiating UP from the dealer's invoice and be cognizant of their holdback % (profit kick-back from Acura). Just joined the 'zine -- really interesting forum!

6MT are hard to come by in this area. If one is willing to drive or fly for a better deal, it can be had, but out here in the Southwest area, it's hard.

If that's the after tax price then it's ok .. before tax is a rip. You should go for 24,500-25,500, these would be a good deal for MT or AT. I got mines for 25k flat 04 MSM 6MT 9 miles on Odometer with whee lock. for 25,800 .. they better throw in the kit, trunk tray, and all season mats.

I have talked to several dealerships "in the area." (My area is big.) I have found two willing to sell an '05 WITH Navi for $27,375.

That's invoice ($26,605) + destination ($570) + $200. And remember, Acura dealers get a 3.5% holdback. They're still making decent money on the deal. I'm hoping my LOCAL dealership will match that price. But if not, I have no problem driving 200 miles to get that price.

Wow, holdback is 3.5%? I thought it was 2%. That gives me more wiggle room to negotiate with
