Since they have your license, I hope they don't show up at your house to "persuade" you not to press charges.

Speaking of, did you snap any pics of them or the car? We're you shooting when they rolled up? I realize what a scary moment it must have been, but thinking back, it might have been easy to point and click a few pics off of them....

unfortunately at the moment i did not think of taking pictures of the car stupid me

once they drove off i was already on the phone with the police and then cancelled all my credit cards and debit cards. these assholes deserve to do some big time.

still no updates from the cops yet

in my area i doubt they will come here and try to "persuade" me being that in my area they would get their ass beat down to the ground.

i have too many friends that live within 1 minutes time away but yeah i doubt they'll come over to my house. all they really wanted was my money.

im giving the credit bureaus a call to have my credit frozen for 90 days.

Wow, that's a majorly harrowing experience. That's actually the ikea I go to shop! I'll be doubly on the look out now. It's amazing to me that someone would attempt robbery in broad daylight at such a populated place. Glad you survived o.k., though I'm sure the image of the cocked gun is going to haunt you guys for a while. Hopefully, they'll bag those guys soon.

just know that if they are caught with your stolen credit cards thats a class A felony and whether they used them or not , just the fact that they stole them is a mandatory 4 year sentence..that on top of the gun charge because you know they still have it i would say that they got a big problem...i can see them screamin now (HHR)--HELP theyre HUMPING my REAR

Wow, that's crazy. Can't believe that would happen in a public place as big as Ikea. Good thing nothing serious happened. Yeah, make sure you make it hard on those guys, no mercy for idiotic people.

sorry to hear about this, bad timing i guess... but if they robbed you for $20, i don't think theres anything left to sue them for.. the most you can get out of them probably won't cover your lawyer fees...

You can definitely sue for damage. You've suffered mental damage and you deserve millions and millions of dollars in damage.

alright guys a detective called me today to come down to the station to identify the people. unfortunately i wasn't very confident on who the people were exactly. but i just pointed out who i thought it would be. the detective said that he took a look at the camera at ikea but there wasn't any good detail just the car leaving the parking lot. his going to go check out the gas station, el pollo loco, atm machine, and 7-11 to see if he can find out anymore information on who these people are. ill post some more updates later on this week when i find out.

SOMEONE NEEDS TO BE CAUGHT I DON'T WANT TO LET THIS GO!!!!!

Very glad to hear you and your friend are ok... and the cars too! I guess they thought their pumpkin-mobile was so hot, they didn't need your cars...!? Ah, what do they know?

Glad you already thought to freeze your credit. Especially in areas of high illegal immigrants, your social security # and drivers license # could be circulating already (illegal people pay good money for SSNs), I work with identity theft victims quite a bit, and there seems to be a surge lately. If you haven't already, order a copy of your free credit reports at this site: www.annualcreditreport.com. You're entitled to this every 12 months by Federal Law, and in some states like MA, under state law as well. Anytime anyone gets their wallet stolen, that's the one thing they should keep doing for at least a couple of years afterwards.

Good luck, hopefully they were too stupid to think of these things - probably a joy ride (3pm?! incredibly dumb).

And I hope they ARE illegal, and then immigration can haul their arses right back to where they came from!

OKAY EVERYONE I HAVE GOOD NEWS.

UPDATE:

i went to the police station today and had more pictures to try to identify. the problem was that they all looked alike so i couldn't say 100% who it was. now the good news is that he told he had the driver arrested and in custody. he will try to link them to the other guys. the detective is going to check out the 7-11 to see if the cameras show anything.

more updates to come

so far its going pretty good

That's good news. I thought that the vehicle might've been stolen. However, if you cannot id the guys, then you might be SOL. I hope that camera shows something

BTW, you say you want jail time but, in CA's overcrowded penal system, they'll probably just get parole unless it's their third strike.

BIG UPDATE

hey guys just got word from the provason officer today.

he told me that the passenger in the car was already on parole and is a single parent with two kids. he broke his parole and his probably facing more jail time.

the driver and gunman are both being prosecuted at court on august 8th.

the gunman not only robbed my friend and I but also robbed a taxi driver. The officer told me that he is facing 3 felonies. He also mentioned that using a gun is 10 years of jail sentence. That doesn't include the robbery he did and the fact that my friend was a minor. But unfortunately he said the judge will probably give him less time but he will face jail for awhile. They are caught and I hope I might get reimbursed.

Do you guys think that I will be reimbursed by money?
He asked me how much estimate did I lost i told him $251.

the car is a dull orange chevy HHR
license plate: 5YON497

cops have the registered owners name and address already. i will be prosecuting them for assault with a deadly weapon. my friend who was a minor will prosecute for assault with a deadly weapon agaisn't a minor.

my question is do you think i can sue again for punitive damages?

anyways thank GOD no one was hurt

once i get these photos processed they will be up in the photograph gallery. again sorry if this is in the wrong section but i think it would be good to let all the tsxers here know what happened to me today
when I buy gas I use my debit card as a credit card so I do not have to use my pin number. when I go online to check my checking balance is shows up as a $1.00 charge-a few days later the correct amount is charged. glad to hear you were ok

Wow man, I was out of the country for the whole time this thread was active until you bumped it today, so this was the first time I read it. Thank goodness no one was hurt and they already have the suspects.

Good luck getting them put away! 10yrs = 1-2 in today's legal system but I sure hope he goes away for much longer.
