I actually just read on owners link that the PC Card slot can be used to play audio files?
https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/Mainte...maint_faqs.asp
There is the link.... not sure if it will work without a password.
Here is the direct question and answer on the owner link website:
Why don't the audio files on my PC Card play?
The card reader may not be able to read some memory cards, depending on the type of card or combination of PC card adaptor and memory card. Recommended memory cards are ATA flash, CompactFlash and SD. Your card may be damaged or inserted incorrectly.

There would have to be an mp3 decoder/algorithm somewhere in the navi/hu system for it to play mp3s. I'm wondering if it can just play standard cd audio files such as .wav files

It would just be easier to burn a few CDs, no? But if the thing plays MP3s, I'm on board =).

So I saw this on the FAQ too so i went ahead and called up Acura, like the headquarters not a dealership, and they told me that it is not for any use right now and its only for service and for maybe future upgrades. I think that is total BS. Hopefully this weekend if i have time i'm gonna try to buy a usb pc card and hook up my mp3 player to it since when its connected to a usb port it acts as an external hard drive. So i'll see if that works. Also i wish we could get like a bluetooth card and stick that in there and get bluetooth for our phones. that would be sick. Someone just needs to somehow find a way to get to the base OS, Windows CE, so we can have full access to stuff.

Summer is Coming
The 06 Civic with Nav has a PC Card slot behind the flip down nav screen. It can be used to play mp3. The new nav in the civic has a utility that searches the PC Card and you can navigate the file structure on the card and play your mp3s. We didn't get the nav version, but it is in the 06 Civic owners manual.
The nav in the civic is different (newer I assume) then the navs in the acura.

Its used in Diag.exe to upload diagnostic and system debugging information. There is nothing else (that I have found) that uses the pcmcia.dll drivers. Other then debugging informatoin, the PCMCIA slot is still useful to the average driver, since aftermarket navigation software can use this feature for 802.11 support. Also, there are drivers included with the software that allow direct read/write access to both the CD and DVD, so mp3 CDs can also be a future feature for aftermarket software.

So I went out and bought a USB 2 PCMCIA card and that damn thing didn't fit. At the end of the card where the usb slots are, it rises up to much for th PC CARD slot. So i returned it and i need to look for a more slimmer usb card. Until then

I would want to see if a usb card would work since my mp3 player, when hooked up through USB, acts as a generic mass storage device so it would be nice to be able to just plug that in and have 20 gigs of music at my finger tips. If there are any usb cards that are real slim out there that you know of let me know and i'll try it out.

So your trying to put a pcmcia card with usb ports in the slot?? Why dont we keep it simple and see if it can just read a flash memory pcmcia card.
I think I have one here in the office. I'll try it out today or tomorrow. I forgot my damn laptop this morning that has all my mp3's

The reason i want it to work with a usb card is because why spend hundreds on a a couple gig flash pc card when i already have a 20 gig mp3 player that acts as a standard external hard drive when connected to usb. So it would be sick to be able to just plug that in and have 20 gigs of music at my fingertips. But i definitly want to know how it works out for you with the flash pc card. If that doesn't work i doubt a usb card would.

Slot open
As I've found out before, doesn't the NAV freeze up when you leave the PC Card door open? I've done this twice and it had to be closed before NAV would operate. Might complicate things.
