Paid $50 to gas for the first time

Well unfortunately I hit $50 to gas for the first time. I looked up and I was nearing the big 5 0 and had to stop the pump right there. Couldn't bring myself to go past $50 yet. I'm not ready!

And the trip meter was only at 394miles. Oh how I remember the good ole days when it was only like $36 to fill it and I could get 515miles per tank.....k maybe that only happened once.

There goes the days of getting in your car after work and just cruising around.

I still do, but I use my Yamaha Majesty scooter which gets about 55mpg.

It doesn't hurt me much. It took me two weeks to get through a full tank. I only live 4 miles away. I switch to my accord and her 87 octane for other trips =P

Dude, how much are you paying for gas per gallon?!?

It only cost me 37 to fill up the TL last time on premium.

I just paid $46 at $3.30 a gallon today in Wine Country, CA. It's getting up there. My most expensive tank was $53 at $3.35 a gallon for 510 miles during the Katrina crisis.

Filled up yesterday at a Chevron in South San Jose, 3.41/gal, totalling $48.72. I've had the car since 4/8/06 which is about the same day gas prices started climbing.

Too bad the TSX is so much fun to drive!

:angryfire :angryfire aaaaagh!

OIL COMPANIES' PROFIT MARGINS HAVE GONE DOWN since 2003! A 10% earnings-to-revenue ratio is bad. The reason Exxon had such high net earnings (on such MONSTROUS revenue) is because despite higher prices (which are NOT in mobil's control), people are buying more gasoline than ever.

How many gallons did you put in? $37 divided by ~$3.20 per gallon of premium = 11.56 gallons. I'm sure your tank is bigger than that. The TSX has a ~17 gallon tank.

How come more people here dont buy motorcycles and scooter. Not only do you get great mpg but its saves some miles on car and lastly FUN.

When its warm and sunny its time to be onn 2 wheels and get 50 mpg. Its a no brainer.

the "low fuel" light had came on about 5 miles earlier.. so i ended up putting about 13.5 gal @ $3.20/gal.

I try to remind myself. I am better off than one of my friends with a Dodge 1500 Quad Cab Hemi. This weekend I was riding in his truck. We stopped for gas. Cost him $80 to fill the tank and he only had 0.75 gallons in the tank when we stopped to fill up. Right now I am only paying $50 to the tank.

There is no financial incentive for buying a motorcycle. You will have to ride your bike every day for 5 years before it begins to save you money... assuming you get a small 250cc. It will take at least 10 years if you have a big 750cc.

I've been riding for 6 years. Its not all about money, 80 degrees and sunny, come one leave the car at home and hit the road on 2 wheels.

Once you get a bike, you cant live without one.

7 days a week in a car ---BORING BORING BORING I need some variety.

You won't be singing such a happy tune when you get in your first accident on a bike. I've been rear ended in my car 3 times in the last 3 years. I shiver at the thought of how it might have turned out if I was on my bike. I rarely ride my bike, so it was a waste of money for me. I know a few people that stopped riding after they got in their first accident. All it takes is that one time. There is a reason why professional athletes are contractually barred from riding bikes. To some, the risk is just not worth it.

Western thinking,

Go to Asia, Europe bikes are part of life.

USA culture so scared of anything not on 4 wheels its a joke. Spread your horizons people. There are more motorcycles, scooters, mopeds than cars in this world.

Lets all do our part to help the enviorment and lighten the need for oil.

Not to get into a pissing contest but US gas companys have very little say in the price of gas as OPEC sets the price. What they could be doing however is discounting the gas as 9 billion is extream.
On the otherside of this for those that complain, we pay the least amount per gallon of any first world country. Be glad your not in the U.K where you would be paying $7/gallon. I am not saying I am happy about prices but we have it pretty good compaired to other countrys.

I know I will get into an accident on a bike if I ride the way I drive. The biggest reason I won't get a bike.

But the high mpg on a bike makes it tempting.

I don't agree cuz I would get into an accident in a Dodge Viper too. I would do something stupid in that car just like I would on a bike. I know I would be a danger to myself and others on a bike. So it's wrong of me to say I would get into an accident on a bike?

You are taking this way too personally.

As for paying to much for gas that's why I changed jobs and found one accessible to public transit. It sucks since I like driving a lot but it's cheaper than my 100mile commute roundtrip at my old job.

well see the worst part about biking is the drivers... the other drivers. even if my bike doesnt have a motor on it, theres been 100s of times that ive almost been run off the road, cut off or other bs.

florida drivers suck ass... period

i am so sick and tired of morons running lights, cutting me off and doing 10 under in the LEFT LANE, it makes it all the better when its a dumbass redneck hauling some POS trailer.

ugh!!!!
/rant

sorry, just spent the day driving around shopping for new footwear. if its not the stupid toursts by the mall its the rednecks around town. but now if i had a bike id be very leary about riding it to work every day, let alone on the highway...

idkk

Jeez...dont take it so personally. I OWN a bike if you didnt read that in my earlier post. I'm not bashing bike riders. What, you think I'm bashing myself? So what if the rest of the world rides bikes compared to cars. You're telling me that getting in an accident in a bike is as safe as getting in an accident with a car? A while back I almost ran into a deer on my bike going 40mph. So you're saying if I hit that deer on my bike the outcome would be the same as if I hit the deer in my car? Accidents happen. Its a fact of life. I just rather be in an accident in my car than on my bike. Even near accidents are dangerous. Slamming your brakes and swerving around a stupid driver in a car is much easier than doing it on my bike. I'm not wishing an accident on anyone. Shit happens. I've already had a few near misses on my bike. Hair raising experiences I tell you.

Com'n, you have a scooter. 400 c.c., yet, still a scooter. While others respect your choice, you should give the same respect to other people as well. And can you argue against that it is more dangerous to be on 2 wheels rather than to be in a cage?

I used to ride motorcycle before I got TSX. I hung up my helmet due to safety reason (and my bike was stolen...). Rising gasoline price got me thinking again... To be realistic, I will not go back riding any time soon..., It is really a pretty expensive hobby.

Just a quick question, somewhat on the same topic...how many miles are you guys getting to a tank of gas?

I use premium all the time, and I'm lucky to get 400 miles...on the highway, downhill, with the wind pushing from behind...

I've even added a K&N filter and a Tornado Air (www.tornadoair.com) to try to increase my fuel economy.

I wonder if I have deeper issues...

bbi, yeah, 400 miles before the oil light comes up is good. For me, i usually fill up somewhere between 13 to 14 gallons when the light comes on. 400 miles divide by 13 gallon, that is about 30 MPG.
