P2279 Code + RPM Issues when turning steering wheel
Hey all, hoping someone can help me out with something.
Recently had the CEL come on and when I look at the code I'm seeing a P2279 code. Trying to diagnosis what it could be. I've used the propane technique to try to locate any leaks without much luck.
There is a hissing sound coming from near the throttle body, but still need to make a "poor mans stethoscope" to see if I can pinpoint where its coming from.
One thing I am curious about, is that in park when the car is idling maybe around 800 RPM, if I move the steering wheel left or right by maybe 5-10 degrees, the RPM jumps up to about 1200 to compensate for the power steering I believe.
That seems unusual to me, but I don't have another TSX to determine if it is normal. Would someone mind trying and let me know.

A smoke machine is most reliable way to locate a leak. See following video for an inexpensive device. Carefully inspect rubber intake air boot for splits.
There is a PS pressure switch which causes an increase of throttle to compensate for steering load. It should not cause that much rpm increase .
good luck

This is awesome, will build this tonight.
Where would you suggest connecting it into the car, what other prep work needs to be done before I start pushing smoke in?
Thanks for the input!
