overfilling / overflowing gas tank

overfilling / overflowing gas tank
Today when I filled up on gas, the dam thing over-flowed on me. I was waiting for the nozzle to click off and then it just started pouring out of the gas tank. The gas station I was at had a spray wash so it wasnt horribly bad, but now I am wondering if the pump was bad, or if there is something about the TSX that would make this happen, or make it easier to happen.
Anyone else have this problem? I've never had it happen before in my life.
(I didnt think it was a good idea to leave the tank that full so I had to take quite a few trips to redline on my way home )

It never had it happen to me. I don't think its the car's problem, it must have been the nozzle forgot to click off.
Let us know if it happens again on your next trip to the gas station.

Must be a bad nozzle. I can always put a litre or more after it clicks the first time too. I've still never put more than 55L (14.5G) in though and it a 65L (17G) tank.
Has anyone ever put in close to 65L or 17G?

There was another thread where a couple people said this happend with their TSX's and that it had never happened before. The general consensis was that it was the nozzle, not the car, but it does seem a little odd that it seems to have happened to a few TSX's already.

hmm....yes. We'll I'll keep my eye open for more threads about this. In the meantime I will assume it was the nozzle.

That's happened to me twice before, but not with my TSX. The problem cannot be TSX-specific. It must be a nozzle or pump defect.
Technically speaking, it qualifies as a hazardous spill, but rarely are minor spills handled correctly. Also, even a minor spill is a potential danger. Someone with a lit cigarette butt could cause major problems, for example.
Be sure to give that area a thorough washing with car wash detergent! Gas can eat through finishes and leave nasty dark staining!!!

I posted the earlier thread a while back, probably around september. I'll go look for it when I have time but...wait! you're the moderator, you can do it on your own!!! (just kidding ... I'll find it when i have time)
Actually I've had my gas tank overflow on me twice already. Since then, I've been carefully making sure that the nozzle has been placed completely in the gas tank before I start to fill up.

Actually, it happened to me last week. I was washing my rear driver side window and as I hear the tank almost full, I heard a faint click. A second later it was overlfowing!!!
Haven't had to fill up yet so I don't know if it'll happen again or not. I've been filling at the same station/pump for the past month and never happened till now. I'll try a different pump next time and see what happens. My speculation after it happened was a pump gone bad.

PS: I'm not surprised your girl didn't appreciate 16 other girls in your car.
