You'll be fine for a couple thousand, provided you aren't taking a drive across a desert this week.

Just a little help from the service guy...

The cars owners manual says 10K between oil changes. The dealer recommends 5k.

i have 3100 miles on mine, and after hearing lots of different things, i thought to change it at 3000, but when i called up acura for the oil change(first one's free) they told me to wait till at least 4000. so unless you drive really really hard, you should be fine.

you can drive it for a while still, assuming you're not going to be driving in "severe" conditions. if you're not high-revving a lot and if the weather is average/mild, that would be normal conditions.

for you, the break-in period has passed and you can get your first oil change. a lot people are still changing it between 3-4k. i'm changing mine every 5k, since my driving condition is normal and my miles are mostly highway.
