oil change and 10,000 mile service

An oil change is done on my TSX @ 4,500 mile. Should/Can I wait til 10,000 to do the 2nd oil change together with the 10,000 mile service, or should I change oil at 7,500?

Well if you fall under the Severe Maintenance schedule I would just do it all at 10K.

you don't need to do it again at 7,500. Thats only 3K miles, even under severe driving thats just crazy

10,000 miles, the dealer probably put a 7500 mile sticker on there because they want you to come back sooner. The quickest anyone should need an oil change is 5000 miles. That's only if they fall under the severe schedule consistantly.

I'm getting my 10,000 mile service done next Monday...I bought my own oil (Mobil 1 synthetic and my Mobil 1 M1-110 oil filter) I got quoted 108.95 plus tax so I wonder how much they'll knock off for me bringing my own oil and filter....

I know I can get this done cheaper and la da da but I told myself since this is my first new car that I won't take it to any 3rd party person or do it myself till warranty was up.

$108 for an oil change!!!!

Your getting ripped, i wouldn't let them charge you anything over $40, especially if you are bringing your own oil and filter

If I recall correctly, my 10,000 mile service cost me about $97 and I supplied the Mobil 1 (but not the oil filter). It coencided close enough with 1-year service. I asked about the price and the service advisor said that they would also retighten all the suspension components. Later on, when installing the Comptech sway bar I did notice that some of the bolts had marks on them but I coudn't tell you if it was like that from the factory or if it was done during the "retightening".

I have not done any maintenance yet, only 2500kms, which is roughly 1500 miles, but my dealer told me the first two service intervals were covered by Acura as long as I had it done at an Acura dealer. Anyone else in Canada get this on an 05?

Dang! My Acura Dealer (Cush Acura in San Diego) charges only $26.95 for an oil change and they top all the fluids, etc. and even do a pretty decent car wash - with tire dressing if it needs it (mine rarely does).

when i took my car in for the 10,000 mile service, i was quoted at $129. i was like wtf??? so then i just asked for an oil change instead. then the service guy charged me 85. i think it's still a rip off, but it was better than 129.

$25 for an oil change at my local honda dealer, and they use OEM stuff, including topping off fluids...

$85 is extreme.

I've never taken my car in for it's xx,xxx mile service (currently 22,000 mi. on my '04), it sounds like they're mostly checking boots and sleeves and exhaust pipes. What fluids do they top up? I understand the oil change, of course. For about $100, what do they really do?

I just changed my own oil at the Travis AFB in northern cali. I rent the lift for 4 bucks an hour and it was under 30 bucks for the oil and filter.

nothing you can't jack up the car and inspect. if they have to top ANY fluid besides wiper - you got other issues to worry about, which they need to cover FREE under warranty!

I am taking in my car this weekend for an oil change and the 10,000 service. According to Owner's Link, 10K is just a tire rotation. They are quoting me $97.00 with my own supplied oil. Does an oil rotation really cost that much?

My dealer here in BC told me the same thing - first two services ARE free.

Also, it may be too premature to switch to Synth oil before or at 10K.
Do it at your 3rd or even 4th oil change, you NEED to get those rings set right along with other stuff.

As far I as remember, the first 2 free services is a Canadian thing.

That's exactly what I wound up paying. My servcie advisor told me it included the oil change, tire rotation, and the re-tightening of the suspension.

jlukja - And you felt this was ok? That sounds awfully high don't you think? Yes, I will pay it but man that's expensive! They better do a good job.

I thought it was kind of high. But, if they actually do raise up the car and do re-torque all the suspension points then I guess it seems worth it. An oil change runs around $30 and a tire rotation $10-$15 so $60-$65 at Acura rates is somewhere between 1/2 to 1 hr. Its within the realm of possibility and, frankly, my time is more valuble. This way I get the service stamp and the Acura service receipt. I put about 7000 miles on my car per year so roughly $100 once a year for maintenance (so far) doesn't seem that bad to me.

I called American Tire Co. at Northridge, CA. to get a quote on tire rotation. The guy on the phone told me they do it for free. I was dubious, but brought my car in anyway. They rotated the tire for free; commentted on how beautiful TSX is; gave me little pressure buying any of their services. It was very good experience.

I paid 108 for the oil change and tire rotation at the dealership yesterday :angryfire
Should've just got the oil change at the dealership and went to Jiffy Lube or something to get the tire rotated and saved about 50 bucks. Lesson learnt - search and read AZ before going in for service.

I use JiffyLube for for oil changes all the time, never had a problem... $35 for a oil change, floor vacumn, and windows cleaned isn't too bad, plus I'm out in 10-15 minutes most of the time. The stuff that they use is good stuff too, not some generic no brand name oil. I don't know about you guys but I don't have 2 hours to spend in a dealership for a oil change .
