OEM Wiper Blades vs. Aftermarket Wiper Blades
Which one is better?
I've seen the Bosch Micro Edge Excel at the store. Has anyone tried these, how do these Compare to OEM? Has anyone had good experiences with any other brands? |
I had these on my Eclipse for a spell. They worked wonders compared to my OEMs but the blades didn't last long at all. Had to replace them after 9 months. Granted I lived in Boston at the time so they were always under rain, snow, or ice.

What size of the Bosch Micro Edge Excel did you guys use?
Just the 26"? Anybody know the price difference of the Bosch vs. the Piaa? |
oem blade refills cost about $4 and are the BEST
STICK WITH THE OEM BLADES i was amazed how good they were when i first bought the car and for me to notice a detail that small about wipers says alot about them  good luck either way |
I have the Piaa Silicone. Like them alot!!
They just seem to glide effortlessly over the windshield. |
Rainx Blades
|
Dang, you guys are throwing a lot of choices out there.
Can a mod please set up a poll for me? Which wiper blades are the best? A) OEM B) Bosch Micro Edge Excel C) Piaa Silicone D) Rain-X Blades E) Other Brand |
any one have experience with wiper blades that don't have the arm...
like these ones http://www.canadiantire.ca/assortmen...=1129130402782 How are they??? |
Bosch Micro Edge Excel would be your best bet, your looking at 8 to 10 bucks for one.

Go out and buy yourself some RAIN-X . . . Treat all the windows with it . . .That'll make the biggest difference . . . The water just disappears from the windshield . . .To hell with the wipers . . . .

You know, I had a heck of a time finding wipers that worked well on the TSX. They either didn't fit right or they chattered. Finally, I just went and bought some OEM refills and they were perfect. They fit right and work really well.
I have used Micro Edge on past vehicles and was always very happy with them, and that's in the Pacific NW, where it rains alot. In fact, they were all I used until I got the TSX. |

I've used them for over 5 yrs, never had any issues with them. It's just like waxing your windows, uhh.. only it's not wax. The rain beads off the windows just like a freshly waxed car.
|
lol, funny thing I thought I'd mention, a google search for "side effects of rain-x" will bring up countless hits of Health care websites about people with vision problems and/or old age and advising them to use Rain-X or a similar product on the windshield.
|
I've had my TSX for alittle over a year now..........still using the original wiper blades and Rain-X. With the Rain-X, I only use my wipers when I'm driving slow. Really saves the wear and tear on the blades......... :2cents:
|
Will Rain X also help to keep bug splatters off of the windshield?
Mine windshield gets a lot of bug splatters. |
I got myself Innovision the spring loaded wiper blades that are low profiles.
|
do you guys just put rain-x on the windshield??.. or do you do the rest of the windows also???

PIAA wipers enough said
Had these on my old wrx and they are amazing, no streaks, no noise and lasts a very long time. I had them on my wrx for over 2 years and still worked like they were brand new |
I've used the Bosch miroedge excel on all my previous cars and I loved them, but I couldn't find them in 26" anywhere around here. My OEMs needed to be changed so I tried the only blades I could find in 26"s - from Michelin at Wal-Mart of all places.
THEY SUCK ASS! Last Thursday it was pouring I had to stop on the way to work because the driver's side blade was falling apart! The metal supports at either side which are supposed to stick in place with notches into the rubber had gotten loose, so the blades lost all rigidity and started slipping out the top. I had the metal supports from the driver's side blade getting tangled with the passenger's side wiper arm, and the top 1/4 of the driver's side blade was flopping along the top of the arm :ugh:. I had to use a pair of pliers to push the metal supports back into the rubber, and re-slide them into the arm and retighten the little clamps that hold it all in place. Absolutely horrible product. |
OEM Wipers sticking to Windshield
I took a long trip (4 hours) last week and the rain was really bad. Hadn't used the wipers much to this point. After a couple hours I heard the blades sticking to the glass and saw marks where the blades seemed to be leaving material behind at the end of the travel arc. It was like the blades were disintigrating on the glass. When I got home the blades looked fine and the material left behind was gone.
Anyone else had this happen? |
the NE just went thru five days of straight rain. i have the piaa's + rain-x fluid and that combo rocks...wipers worked great and water just beads right off the windshield.

Blades for 2006 TSX are different
The OEM blades that come installed on the 2006 TSX are Bosch Icon blades. These blades are different from those on previous models. They have no external ribs.
They are the 426A (26 inch) for the driver side and 416A (16 inch) for the passenger side. I just got a great price on them ($17.98 and $13.48) from "Advance Auto Parts" they are having a sale through the month of April and all blades are 25% off. They had to special order these sizes for me. |
size matters!

I'm using "Valeo ULTIMATEŽ Wiper Blades" for my 04 and I love them every rainy day. They wipe very well and silent as well
|
^ got the same too~~~but for 06, 07, the passenger side will be a little bit bigger......but it still fit but not perfect
|
ditto on the Valeo blades, those things are great! Constant pressure, great swipe. I've had them on my car for a year and a half, and they still wipe clean.
|
the passenger side wiper has begun to tear, so i'll be looking at either oem or aftermarket.
all the aftermarket brands mentioned in this thread are all options... |
i have the old rain-x ones and they're still perfect ! i love them
|
