Front Bumper Weight ???

Installed body kit last weekend...
After unclipped the front bumper I reached hand into the gap & easily pulled this heavy gauge solid-steel piece out of the gap.
I was like "WTF is this ???"

I was worried the whole week that this might be a factory screw-up that it migtht be a piece of critial "bracket" kind of hardware that was left out and has been just sitting there.

A parts consultant from another dealer I know found out for me the part is called
"Front Bumper Weight" Part# 71105-SEC-A00
MY dealer still haven't got a clue yet. :sqntfawk:

An odd shape for a weight.

Anyone familiar with the purpose of this thing ?

Description: Length: 13" Ht: 41/2" Wt: 3.5 lbs
Heavy gauge Steel - shiny black
Part Number: 71105-SEC-A00

I merged this thread w/ the previous "OEM kit install PDF" thread (try and keep it all in one place).

"OEM kit install PDF" - topic: Where can I find the install pdf ???
"Bumper Weight" - topic: TECHNICAL, what is the function of this piece of part ?

How oh how on earth do they seem related in anyway to you at all ?

I have to guess under "OEM kit install PDF" my question is FAR less like to be read....urrrgh

I retitled the thread to read "OEM kit install questions" generally--people who have done their own install before (like xizor) will probably have seen the piece you are talking about.

can you take a pic of where you got it from off the bumper? the schematics aren't that useful for figuring out where stuff goes

it's a weight support for the plastic underbody piece that runs from under the bumper to under the oil pan. the 4 bolts connect to form a trapezoid.

i made the mistake of taking it out when i did mine. no prob though. just put it back in and bolt it down. there should be a slot/gap in the middle of the large plastic underbody piece (near the oil pan) where you can slide the weight support back in.

#29 is a mid or long step bolt i believe and #6 is the cover support.

lemme know if you gots ?s
