"Not an Ashtray" Options

Im not a car mechanic , but "Not an Ashtray" is really bugging me lately. Sitting there taunting me with its loud, obnoxious, bright red color. I read the post on how to remove it, but what can I put in its place? I would like something that is:

1. easy to install (very easy, Im new at this!). Im not talking a radio here, maybe a coin holder, or, holder for my ipod or cel phone, fancy lights, or heck, even an ashtray (oh, the irony!!!)

2. looks good (or at least better than it did before, and get rid of that red color!)

Im interested in any suggestions and what others have done to eliminate the awful plague that is "Not an Ashtray".

Thanks!

BEWARE!!! doing this may cause confusion, thus leading to a burn in felt caused by lack of attention to detail on part of smoker inconspicuously putting ash's in the not an ashtray

I had my radar plugged into the outlet beside the "not an ashtray" and I hated it, but, I have since hardwired my detector, so I just keep that compartment shut. Was thinking about going to the local craft store, getting some "test" felt that resembles the texture of that not an ashtray and see if I could find some fabric paint to cover up the color. Will let you know if I get the motivation to actually do that... but its an idea for anyone else out there.

I actually bought some blue felt. The tricky part that Im running into is that the shape of "not at ashtray is a bit funky - you not only have to cover the whole insides, but also the "lip", which is about a quarter inch all around.

The "felt paint" or permanent ink and painting the damn thing black is a better idea. Maybe I'll use my piece of blue felt to try it out.

How come the Aussie version of the TSX (Accord Euro)'s Not an Ashtray is an Ashtray? It's so weird.... and too close to the shifter boot too.

I imagine that if I smoked in the car, I'd try to put the ciggie out by pressing it against the metal mesh, while keeping my eyes on the road and instead hit the centre console cover! HAHAAHA... no way am I going to smoke inside my lovely lovely car......

I got it...

The brand new Alpine DVD player with something like "Pulse-Touch", which has an LCD screen that feels like it actually has buttons on it when you push down . From Crutchfield, get this...

It's only $1,500! Now I'm not saying that's cheap, but Alpine Screens of the same size are over a grand and the DVD players are something like 500+, so having an entire package in 1 for this price is pretty good for a brand new top-of-the-line head unit. Also comes with all the Alpine goodies, quality, iPersonalize, and the Alpine name. Did I mention it will fit with the TSX's interior because it has a blue interface (rather than Alpine's typical green)
