NEXTEL cell phone and CD player interference
NEXTEL cell phone and CD player interference
I noticed while on a road trip that sometimes I would get some static while playing some CDs on the changer. I noticed that this would occur w. my father's NEXTEL cell phone placed in the storage compartment directly below the CD changer.
It never happened w. my cell phone from SPRINT thus could it be something w. NEXTEL's walkie-talkie feature or freq.? That's odd considering the CD player is completely hard wired to the speaker system. The issue isn't annoying as it is strange.
Anyone else have such an experience and or input?

Yeah i have had a nextel for the last 5 years, Its just that when they recieve a call, or are trying to find service they have some kind of radiation that picks up on alot of other electrical devices with speakers (tv's, computers, home stereo, car stereo, etc). I dont know why, but it has been going on for a long time..... Its alot better in the TSX if you just leave it in the cup holder rather than directly underneath the stereo IMO
Actually it happends with almost any phone near speakers. Certain phones worse then others but still. I used to have a Seimens and almost no problems with it. Now my Nokia creates a buzzing whenever its within a couple feet of speakers. I tried to put my phone in the storage compartment for a while but it created to much interference. Put it in the armrest and you should be fine.
Both my previous nokia and current motorolas have done that too. This has been going on since waaaaay back. I'd say it's normal since it happens not only in my car, but on my computer speakers as well if the cellphone is near it.
I wouldn't worry about it.
The noise isn't noticeable if you keep your phone in the cutholders or the arm rest area.

I haven't had a problem with Verizon (CDMA), but I know Cingular phones interfere MAJORLY with electronics (as my friends). I have heard a couple complaints about Nextel interference, including here. I think it has something to do with the GSM freqencies...
