New respect for TSX Sportshift...
I was traveling on business last week. The rent-a-car they gave me was a Mitsubishi Outlander. It was crap...at tin box, very whiny engine, etc. Anyway, I'm looking down at the shifter, and notice a little gate next to D, with a + and - symbol, top and bottom. I couldn't believe this P.O.S. had a sport-shift mode! Naturally, I tried it out. The delay between changing gears was huge, and as I stepped up the gears, I kept trying to hit 5th. It was a shock to discover it only had 4 gears!
Needless to say I was very happy to get back to my TSX, and I have a new respect for how smooth the sport-shift is...not to mention the 5th gear.

Drifting
I like driving my girlfriend's Jetta sometimes for similar reasons: her 5-sp. is complete shit and makes me feel great about my TSX. I used to love it when I had an auto CL-S and wanted to feel a stick again, but now that I own one of the better manuals on the market, I can't believe how rubbery, long, and imprecise the shifts are. Shocking.

While 6MT users will quite rightly point out that the 5AT doesn't optimize the performance of the TSX in the same way, day-in and day-out, the 5AT with the Sport Shift can be a lot of fun to drive in its own right.
My last four cars were standard. Having the comfort of AT, while having the option of choosing shift points and downshifting is a fantastic compromise. No regrets...

There are a lot of manumatics and sport shifts out there, including offerings from Porsche, Ferrari, Audi, among others. I've actually read that the Porsche shifters are great, but the MR Spyder in Britain got a great review on it's manumatic.
Of course, this would be a useless statement if you've driven other manumatic offerings from some of the aforementioned companies.
Junkster, who believes Toyota offers that manu option in the MR in the states now.

No way!
I've driven the Celica's system. By the way, it's called E-Shift. And, no, it doesn't suck anything. Still, I'm a big fan of the TSX system. It's no BMW SMG though. Keep it clean. I never get this tendency of some people just to insert curse words everywhere. It doesn't befit people older than 18.

VW has a crappy SS mode. The SS in my friends 330i is pretty good - you don't like it NJtsx?? I like the TSXs a lot. Those are the only cars with SS that I have experience with. Oh, and the Mazda6 - not impressive.
