New 05 TSX owner

Hello all!

I recently bought a 2005 TSX with 90k on it and was hoping for some pointers on what to look out for, what to replace and how to replace it. I am a first time acura owner with very little experience in mechanics, so I would appreciate explanations to be as simple as possible while I get acclimated. I plan on trying to do most of the work myself, so sharing any references or guides I should be looking at would be very much appreciated as well. As of this moment, I know my front door lock actuators seem to be faulty, which from what I've read seems to be a pretty popular issue. I was wondering if it was too complicated/worth to fix for a beginner like myself, or if I should have it taken somewhere. Also, if there is any preventative maintenance I can do, a point in the right direction would be awesome! Thank you in advance and I look forward to hearing advice from what seems like a very educated and informative forum!

If you have the patience, there is a wealth of information available by searching. The search feature on this sight is dreadful, but with practice, you may be able to find what you're looking for. Also, you can find DIY videos for just about anything on youtube. Others may differ, but I don't think the actuator swap (for your power door locks) is beginner stuff, but I suppose it depends on how badly you want to save money. I think there's a DIY here somewhere, and you can probably find that on youtube; faulty door lock actuators have been an ongoing problem with Honda's for over 20 years. Good luck with your 05. I had one (bought new) for almost 8 years and sold it w/ 178K miles on it. Still looked and ran like new. Pretty much all highway miles, but with good maintenance, they can go almost forever (my wife's 07 has close to 220K miles on it with no issues).

when you search look for both honda and acura products of similar age. They employ same actuators.

good luck
