Never use Goof off or Goo-Gone to remove a stain, doh!
 

I was trying to remove a stubborn stain on the plastic part right by the shifter of the TSX. It's the black plastic part that surrounds the entire center area. The stain didn't want to get removed so I used goof off stain remover and it removed the stain, but also took off some of the black/graphite paint of the black plastic :ugh: including the black cover area of the cup holders. Now it looks like crap, so I had to buy back 2 black and it restored the black shine, but I never knew Honda paints the plastic center piece ever and why did they paint that black center area anyways? Is there anyway I can replace the entire black plastic center area with new parts?

I'm sure you can get a replacment part, if cost is no object. It might be worth looking into getting that metal overlay kit. :) "It's not a bug, it's a feature!"

We're people using Goof off when they were debadging?
Is Goof off not safe on the exterior paint either?

Not sure, but how much do you think it would cost to replace this area?

That metal thing sounds enticing.

Goof-off is a solvent. Use a mild deteregent. Many waxes also clean this sticky stuff off quite well -- just make sure you have no dirt on the surface before trying.

i might take it in when i have to do an oil change or something and ask if they could fix it under warranty. do u think they can?

I doubt it. It's not a defect. It's damage. I hate when I mess something of mine up all on my own, but it happens. Good luck.

You do not need it when you de-badge

I use the dental floss and hair dryer.

After that I just used Simple Green or even windex to get the sticky glue off. Theer isn't much those (most rolls off with our fingers). Took about 15 minutes per badge.

I have been told that if you use fishing line (Walmart even sells it), it cuts the time in half.

Take some pictures so we all can see how bad it is.

What is back 2 black? Where can you buy it?

i used goo gone on my exterior when I debadged and that thing works miracle. Also used goo gone on my mirrors to remove some glue residue off my tint from some felt that was put in to prevent scratches.

Simple Green is a good cleaner.

i used goo gone to remove the residual glue from my old window tint and it works great in that application. you need ventilation cuz it gets you high.

i had to use it on my seats to remove half cured powder coat paint off the vinyl.I had water with me to dilute it as soon as the paint was removed or else im sure it would have melted the seat.best

I used a little goo gone when debadging and had no problems

I definitely freaked out that I may and washed it immediately but no problems whatsoever
