Agreed, you don't need to buy the book to get a good deal on a car. But it sure doesn't hurt to know what kinds of tactics they might be using on you (some maybe even without your knowledge!), and how you can counter them. Just putting it out there as a resource for anyone who wants to learn how to negotiate better.

Dirk: In your opinion, if you bought a car from a salesperson (not the internet guy) last time and he is still there, should he get first shot when it comes time to buy a new one?
I like the idea/ease of just doing it over the internet this time around, but the guy I bought from in '02 is a floor guy, not the internet manager. Suggestions?

Repeat business is a pretty big deal...it reassures us that we are doing something right, and that not everyone hates us.

Its a closing technique I developed to try and make things easier for myself and my customers...and to get car sales a better rep...maybe...
