Need additional Help with NAV System

I posted back about the window tint causing the NAV system not to work. I had the tint taken off the rear window and Acura once again swapped it with another NAV system. However it still does not work right. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or has any suggestions. The same tint is still on the side windows could that still cause a problem?

I have the same problem... Acrua said that it was the tint. My navi is off by 2-5 miles sometimes... How is that? Isn't the antenna outside above the rear window?

The GPS antenna is under the rear shelf in the back window. That is why metallic tint in the rear window can effect reception. You may also get multi-path from reflections inside the car. The antenna on top of the car is the XM antenna.

FYI... in the 06 Civic they put the GPS antenna under the front dash. Maybe a little smarter.

Well they removed the tint and the navi is back online. I'm happy. The tint was installed by the previous owner and I always thought it was a little too dark. Any recommendations for tint that doesn't affect the navi reception? I'm looking for manufactor names.

The more popular tints with high heat rejection and no metal are ceramic tints by Huper Optik and Formula One's Pinnicle. But be ready to shell out some bucks. I priced HO at a local Houston dealer and it was $500 for the car, the local Formula One dealer was willing to cut me a break for $399. I'm not a tint expert, but other than cheaper dyed tints which are subject to color fading, you may be forced to invest (that's a nice way of saying 'spend a lot of money') in some high tech non-metallic tint. Here in Houston it is a must.

How about 3M tint? Any potential problems with them?

Madico Charcool. I've got that on my TSX and the color is perfect. Not too dark, slight reflective quality, perfect. Plus it doesn't effect navi or AM radio at all.
