It'd be cheaper for you to find a used 06 or something in a few months than to upgrade the navi.

I don't believe it will just "plug n play" integrate... the 06 navi will be looking for things that doesn't exist on an 04/05. You better be darn sure this will work before spending that much money on it.

Mav, are you trying to go from an 05 navi system to an 06 navi system? Or are you going from an 05 non-navi to an 06 navi system? I think that's where the other people are confused about

What are the added features that you want to add? Faster calculations and such? Or are you trying to add bluetooth and the handsfree link?

Maybe the 06 needs to get a little bit older before their stuff are more easily available? I'll let you know if I come across anything. I may have seen the headunit for sale somewhere, but you're just looking for the drive that goes in the trunk, right?

SoCaliTrojan , thanks for understnading my issue. Yes i'm trying to swap out my 2005 TSX navigation drive for a 2006 Navigation drive. I want the added features such as faster processing speed and ZAGAT report and the 700 POI. Bear in mind I have a 2005 TSX.

Goodness no, I didn't hose my navi drive.

I'm worried about interoperability. This is something you're just going to have to find out on your own if you do the upgrade. I look forward to hearing if it goes well.

The module in the back stopped working and the player wouldn't read discs. Personally, I think it was due to the heat since my car is black and gets parked directly in the sun all day long. Sacramento, CA was in a heat wave for the last two weeks and that's about the time it started to fail.

Funny thing is now we're back to winter with rain...I swear mother nature is going through menopause (we didn't even have a spring season yet, it just jumped one day from rain and cold to hot and now back to rain)....

Goddsmack, so i guess the dealer checked it out and said it was the navigation drive or the dics itself that was damaged or both?

I did my own diagnostic; disc is fine, drive unit = hosed. Dealer concurs and has ordered that $3.5K drive unit on warranty.

It's been a week, no car yet either. I just don't understand how you guys can put with an automatic, I want my manual tranny back...

So this is a warranty item correct? Yeah $3,500 is a BS amount of money for a DVD drive- for that amount of money, you can get an entire kick-ass home theater sound system with a top of the line progressive scan DVD player. I'm waiting for some wrecked car DVD players to become available and I'll be doing the upgrade here.

Shoot, So I guess that means if i swap out my drive for a 2006 navigation drive on my 2005 TSX, if anything goes wrong that means there won't be any warranty for the 2006 Navi. Drive?

Mav,

Have you tried loading the 06 disk in your 05 then using the diag mode of loading the software from disk?

I am curious if your current DVD unit is able to read the newer disk.

Thanks

I think it's a british term, but it means wiped out or reached the limitation of something.

Got this off a website:
It is also widely used of people in the mainstream sense of "in an extremely unfortunate situation". The term was popularised by fighter pilots refering to being hosed by machine gun fire (date?).

Thanks for the reply. I just wanted to make sure this had been tried. I see from the TSX forum that folks had to replace the Navi Unit with the 06 Navi Unit and get the 4.x DVD in order to get the newer features that the 4.x offers in the 04 or 05 TSX. Expensive, however, not as expensive as trading-in the car for an 06 TSX. I am annoyed at this upgrade is so expensive. For $3,500, that is a serious DVD reader in the trunk + $200 for the DVD.

Fortunately the new Accord (and probably other Honda models) are compatible for the swap so if you buy a junked DVD drive, the worst case is that your navi starts up with a honda startup which can be fixed with a new navi disk with acura on it- if it really bothers you that bad! (or you just wait until the white disk update comes out and you're set)
