Navigation for a non-NAV TSX
Hi,
I've searched through the threads, but can't find an answer for my question.
I live in Toronto, Canada. They didn't offer NAV for my 2004 TSX. However, I hear the new Canadian 2005 model will have NAV. Do you think it's possible to install the factory NAV into a non-NAV TSX like mine? I don't want to trade in my car and pay a premiuim for the new model.
Has anyone in the US added a factory NAV to their non-NAV TSX? I assume it'll be expensive since there's a lot of work involved. If it's possible, you think it'll be messy?
I've looked at aftermarket NAV's and they look cheezy compared to the factory one.
Thanks,

No, aside from getting the Navi cluster, you'd need an entirely new cowl, engine room main, and floor harnesses to even get the Navi to turn on. That's not even considering getting the other stuff up and running.

Honestly, the Nav. in N. America is USELESS unless you travel alot to different place where you don't know much. Since the Nav. in Japan can tell you where is the traffic is so that you can get around it. It all done by the sensor and monitor installed on their highway, but not in N. America. Too bad...

Man, I wish I could have figured out how to use the Navi when I was in Yokkaichi. Seems like Japan has all the cool stuff.

Maybe you should look into using the factory screeen (it would drop right in - and yes i know it's like the whold centre console) and attaching a computer to it (something like drivesoft http://www.drivesoft.net/ds_images_vehicles.htm )
I have no idea what this would cost but it would give you a factory look with some serious goodies

hehehe.... I thought ppl would think my PDA GPS setup would look stupid in TSX therefore never post it here. :P Didn't realize many ppl are doing this.
But the price for my setup sure wins out.

i didn't get a nav because i read somewhere that big brother can track you. right now the police is not suppose to use information of where you are especially if they clocked you for speeding, but they can.

GPS is only a receiver, it does not broadcast where you are.
