I noticed there was a PC Card Expansion slot on the DVD-Rom in the trunk. I also saw that the new RL will have live updated traffic information in the NAVI. Does anyone know what this expansion slot is for? And is there any chance it could be to include this feature as an upgrade for the TSX via the PC Card slot?

 

From what I've seen, my guess is that the PC Card slot is mainly for diagnostic logging. The diag screens have some stuff that hints at enabling writing logging to a flash card in the pc card slot. Software updates appear to just be installed by replacing the DVD-ROM disc with an updated one. I believe soem people confirmed that the DVD holds not just the map data, but also the navi application code itself (but probably not the OS)

Where does the RL get the live traffic info?

 

The RL gets it from a new service called XM NavTraffic that comes with satellite radio. It’ll tell you which streets are congested, about accidents that are backing up traffic and the average road speeds of different routes.. You can read about it here...
