My younger brother (24) just bought a G35 Sedan

So my brother decides to get himself a G35 for his 24th birthday He's living on the east coast, so the RWD is gonna be a pain in the winters I'd guess. I admit I'm a little jealous, since the G wasn't even an option in my budget

I think the only other car he seriously considered was the 2004.5 Volvo S40.

Worst part of all -- he got an AUTOMATIC :shakehd:

Hmm...what's he do for a living?

Personally, as much as I like the drivetrain of the G35, I still can't get over the interior. Just not ergonomically sound. Oh well, I'm sure your brother will enjoy it.

Working at Chili's to pay the bills, and starting Business School in the fall. I suspect he's got some eBay wheeling and dealing going on, for extra cash on the side.

Funny, turns out I was way off when I recommended that he check out the Mazda3 -- seemed like a great car for a grad student who's gonna have loans to pay off.

In any case, I think he's better off for avoiding the Volvo, as cool as the S40 seems to be.

The Mazda 3 does look interesting, but after seeing a few on the road, it feels too much like someone rear-ended the Mazda 6 then chopped the rear end off (at least in sedan form). Although the 5-door is decent. It's just not to my taste or needs as far as design goes.

I drove the mazda 3 pretty hard at the rev-it-up event and i liked it better then the 6 as far as whipping it around on an autocross...

Mazda 3 is a great little car. Only knock on it right now is poor crash tests.

a few weeks ago i put a post about the G35 sedan, i love the power and rumbling sound from the car compared to the TSX, but the interior and gauge lighting isn't as nice.

tell your bro, why didn't he get the G35X sedan instead? the G35X is the one with intelligent AWD that changes with the weather. my folks have that and that thing had no probs with snow in the winter. plus it has better acceleration and handling than the RWD G35 sedan. he should've gotten the coupe man, even with cloth interior, i would've.

hey dabuda, did u ever see that one chevy commercial where they were comparing saving $20K by buying a malibu, while their friend was driving around in a BMW 330 working 2 jobs as a pizza delivery guy and i forgot what his other job was?

Didn't even read the sedan part, just assumed a young guy would get the coupe. I thought about the Sedan b/c its less expensive, maybe your brother took that into consideration. But the sedan is an old folks car IMO, might as well get a TL, its competition.

Actually, that was a Dodge commercial and everyone in the Dodge cars were on their way to a party when they run into their friend, who drives a BMW 3-series at a stoplight. They ask him if he's going to the party and he says no, he's working, pointing to the sign on the roof. Cut to the scene at the party. Doorbell rings and they answer it to see their friend in the BMW at the door delivering the pizza.

I couldn't help but laugh when I first saw that commercial.

Of course, most people that young driving a BMW probably don't have to pay for it at all.

Well, he's been driving a Toyota Avalon since he turned 16, so even the G sedan is a huge improvement in the sportiness area. He's got the spoiler now too.
