My best gas milage
Almost hit 500 miles. I went to Sanibel / Ft. Myers beach from Fort Lauderdale, FL. about 70% highway, 30% city. See below for proof...

I think the closest I've gotten to the infamous 500 mile club is in the low 400's.. (maybe ~410). Is the 500 mile club achievable at speeds of 75mph+ or even 70mph+?
edit. And WTF. You almost hit 500 miles with 30% city?
My stats above are 100% highway in the flat cow pastures of Kansas

That's crazy alright.
I got about 27.4 mpg with my last fillup. I think that was all "city", but that's mostly highway in-town. I don't know why I seem to be getting better mileage in the cold...
But I don't think I've gotten that much better than 400/tank, but I guess I mostly look at the mpg. I don't worry about the hwy mileage since I'm doing so well with the "city".

I'm in the 500 mile club. I did over 550 miles on the freeway before reaching the city and getting stuck in the grid lock because the traffic lights were out from lack of electricity. Fuel consumption was 33.8 mpg.

I'm going to give it a try over the weekend... going to Toronto and back (350 miles each way)... I wonder what I'm going to get given the winter gas and cold temperatures... and 75mph+ average I'll likely be doing...

steady speeds between 140 and 150KM/hour also provide excellent economy(better than going 120 or 130), but if you get caught going that fast you'll hate yourself for a long time!

question for the 500 milers, did your force gas in the tank? I always just stop pumping when it kicks off.
Best i've gotten on a tank was around 450 miles and thats with the low gas light on and saying i have about 10 miles left. I know I could go well past that so I could probably make 500 but never tried.

any of those generic auto products off ebay are really not going to do much at all, i wouldnt suggest buying any of them.
there is usually only like .3 gallons or so that you could get out of tank by continuing to add gas so that is not going to matter that much. you will get over 500 miles out of a tank if you are going 65 the entire way, youre going to get your best mpg from 50-60 most likely and so if you just leave it on cruise at 65 you shouldnt have a problem getting over 500, going any more than that you might not get 500 but youll get over 400. once youre on the highway and cruise control is set if youre rpms are close to 2000 you should be over 500 miles on the tank, taking your rpms to 2500-2700 constantly which youll prob be around 75-80mph or so youre going to lost some mpg.
it comes down to whether you wanna get there a little faster(going ~75-85 or you wanna get an extra ~50-75 miles out of the tank by going 65mph)
this is just what i found out from my car, which is stock 5AT. March 7th I'll be driving from kansas city to miami and will have a good chance to really see how speed will affect mpg and ill make sure to take pictures of the trip computer and post on here so that we might have an even more clear idea of what youre going to get with what speeds

but that difference does make a significant difference in mpg and by going 80 you are going to forfeit a couple of miles per gallon

I live in Northern VA/DC where traffic patterns are the worst. I get about 330-360 per tank (before the yellow warning light turns on).
I drove it one time from DC to upstate NY (6 hour drive in the pouring rain) and made it with still 1/4 of a tank left.
My car is 2006 (got it in August of 2006). Someone told me to change gears between 3000 to 3500 RPMs. It helped with the gas mileage. Is that what you guys do (the ones with the high gas mileage 500+).
Let me know when you all typically switch gears. 15/mpg is unheard of. That's like for an SUV or Hummer.

I noticed a strange increase in gas mileage recently, and I'm currently experimenting to find the cause. Went from ~400/tank (90% freeway driving) to far beyond 500/tank (close to 540 sometimes). This has been true for the last 3 tanks. The mileage reported by my TSX at the end of the tank has been around 36mpg; I've found this to be a couple mpg high in the past, though.
It began happening immediately after an oil change (12000 miles)--can oil consistency/age affect mileage? I figure it also could be that the service dept. might have changed the tire pressure (I realized that I hadn't checked it for a LONG time), or it could be that the "winter gas" is finally being replaced with the normal stuff at the pumps.
Regardless, I'm pretty pleased with my >10% increase in mileage.
