MP3 TSX -- Finally some progress
Well, the hard part of my project is done. The PC is in the car and functions the way it should. I still have a lot of work to do, like clean up the wires, install the software...etc. But this at least shows how it is going so far.
I apologize as these pics are some of the more "boring" stuff. When the I have a chance to take more LCD shots I will post them

In one of the photos, the PC looks like it has a wi-fi antenna sticking out the back (middle pic, third set). Is that right?
Also, where did you get the shutdown module? Did you make it yourself?

Absolutely the coolest mod I have seen for a TSX so far.
I had a friend with an M3 who did a similar thing, with a fold out deck (forget the brand) and the computer set into the center stack towards pedals. It was sweet to play doom while on the road.
Junkster, who would love wifi on such a set up so I can check out acura-tsx.com while in traffic.:P

I am using the avelectronics unit (the 499$ deal) and i have not been happy with those lines at all. The power comes from the center console cigarette adapter. Could you advise me how to fix and/or ground this better to remove those annoying lines?
You may be right about the grounding issue. The PC power is grounded to that same ground for the navi tuner, and there is TONS of noise coming through the speakers. Even moving the mouse can be heard through the speakers. Also, the noise increases as the engine revs increases. there is noise/interference coming from everywhere

It seems that everyone using the lighters as a source of power has had noise, this was pointed out by the guys using the portable MP3 units. If you can find no other place for power, you could always try using one of these: power filter
Try wiring both the converter and the computer to the power isolator. As far as grounds, try the bolt the fuel pump uses, its under the trunk carpet up by the back seats. Make sure to grind or sand the paint off for best results....
Another thing that might seem silly, use a good quality 75Ohm video cable, not a regulat RCA cable for the video out. It really does make a difference.
If you have more issues, hit me up, I just spend 3 weeks chasing out all of the noise related to the video conversion in my TSX.

Thanks for the tip E. For 20$ it cant be a bad investment. I will try a different ground while that filter is on order and see if it makes a difference.
