Miami car accident

I've been here for one month...guess what happens to me today? Off on US 1, this woman in her trainer's permit decides to make a right turn on her red, she makes a wide right turn all the way into my left lane. I brake hard and hit the horns. My right front quarter panel, right headlight, rims and wheel well get damaged. I know Miami drivers are horrible - and I've seen enough car accidents here in such a short time, so I'm careful, but today it finally happens to me. (expletive remark!) She gets two tickets, and now I have to figure out what to do next. I did a search on the forum, but am not clear....can anyone in Miami recommend where I can take my car? Her insurance will have to pay for this, but I want to make sure some body shop is not going to rip me off on repairs since this is a new car I have.

glad to hear you are ok...

call a couple acura dealerships in your area and ask where they recommend to get acura's repaired...some may have a collision repair centers or they will recommend a shop...

Thanks for the responses guys. it's really good to read this...I'm glad no one got hurt. I've lost the anger, but the sadness is starting to creep in. When you love a car such as this, and when a scratch feels painful...an accident really bites it. Thanks for your support.

Good luck. Last year I was in what seemed like a minor fender bender (rear-ended in a 4 car chain). The first call I made was to my dealership, who fortunately recommended the same body shop as my insurance. Two months and $8,500 in repairs later, my car is in mint condition. They detected some cracks on my frame. Probably a cheaper shop would've just replaced my bumper and sent me on my way.

Sorry to hear about that! I am convinced Miami drivers are some of the worst in the country.

I had an accident a few months ago (when I was living in Miami), and I called a few Acura dealers, and they were insanely expensive to fix, and they had about a 2 month wait. I also called one that someone at work recommended, and that one had a 3 month wait. I didn't have time for that since I was leaving for Colorado in a few weeks, so I took mine to Orlando (where I am from and had my old car fixed at a body shop there), and they were able to fix it in about 4 days (and for about $1300 cheaper). Anyway, my point is, try outside of Miami to get yours fixed if there is a long wait at one of the body shops in Miami. Even places in Ft. Lauderdale seem to be faster.

I think a lot longer than that since Christopher Colombus discovered it before refugees from england came and finished off the natives and proclaimed it theirs.

Tampa drivers are probably just as bad, I couldn't believe how bad drivers are when I first moved down here, maybe FL in general is full of bad drivers

Ohh yeah, people blow through lights like nothing around here. I grew up in southern California...we had "California stops" - you know for stop signts....but blowing through reds takes it to another level. I wasn't suprised I'd be hit sooner or later....and I believe Miami was named Road Rage capital....because I sure feel it myself some times.
