Metal trim kit and blue LED - glare?

I've finally sold my old car and will be heading over to the Acura dealer this week to get a new CGP TSX 5A Navi!

I'm considering getting the metal trim kit. One thing I'm wondering though, does the little blue LED overhead ambient light cause a glare on the metal panels on the center console at night? Is it something that I would find distracting, or is the blue light not that bright? I wouldn't want the whole center console glowing blue at night.

Can anybody post a nighttime pic? I tried to search, but no luck.

It's an "ambient" light. It's not meant to be that bright.

The interior looks better with metalic trim under the blue light. I love the look at night. No glare.

Did you guys have the kit installed at the dealership, or did you do it yourself? If you installed it yourself, how hard was it to do?

Dealer installed, but can't imagine it being all that difficult as a DIY job...

It comes with directions I think on how to clean the surface prior to install.

Well, I bought a metal trim kit NIB on Ebay for $198. My car will arrive at the dealership Thursday, so I should have it ready to install. Can't wait to get my hands on this car!

I've seen some pics of the kit on the site if you search for them, I just never saw any pics of it at night. I'll post some next week once I get it in. I really like the way it makes the door handles look.

Found some of these pics awhile back on the web when I was considering it myself... I don't think you really get a good "view" into how it would look with the ambient blue light because the photographer used a flash, or had the door lights on, but it does show you that there isn't a lot of glare.

Personally, after seeing it in person at my dealership, I decided against it - I think there's too much silver going on, but that's just my opinion. I WILL say that I think it looks much better on a 5AT than on a 6MT... the black shift boot stands out too much with the silver trim on the manny car.

Anywho, installation seems pretty easy: 1) Clean the area with isopropyl alcohol 2) stick the metal trim on. You could probably save yourself a ton of money by doing it yourself... that is, of course, if you have steady hands Hope that helps!

I've tried looking for the, kit but i don't know where to buy it and ebay, i don't really trust the quality, so any people who bought it from ebay tell us the quality, and people who bought it from a store, can you tell me where?

I bought mine off of ebay from Acura of Escondido. Not the cheapest price($260), but guaranteed. They have several sets for sale. Their ebay name is aofeparts.

The one I bought off Ebay is the genuine OEM Acura kit, so quality isn't really an issue - it's the same stuff. It just comes down to whether you trust the seller or not. The seller on the auction I bid had a good feedback rating, so I don't expect any problems.

There ARE knockoff third party kits on Ebay, but they are usually pretty obvious that they are not the 9-piece OEM kit. Most of these third party kits look terrible and have LOTS of pieces. Many of them don't even match the existing metal trim in the car color-wise. I wouldn't touch any of those.
