man...just got some bad news...

after so many months of lurking around these forums and really really expecting to become a tsx owner myself, i just found out that we cannot get another acura/honda due to reasons that i choose not to mention at this time (it doesn't have anything to do with their lack of quality or anything, it's more due to financial reasons). i am extremely disappointed now, because i was really looking forward to owning a tsx, which i know is a great car. now, we have to look at other cars obviously...i suggested the mazda 6 or mazda 3 to my family, but they dont have a good history with mazda, and i really can't think of anything else, until someone mentioned Nissan, and i figured an 05 altima would be a good car to get since it's in the same price range as the TSX. I plan on gettin an 05 SE model. i know it's not nearly as good of a complete package as TSX, but i don't question nissan's products at all, and i'd say they're right at the top of the japanese manufacturers. so anyway, i hope you all enjoy your tsx's, i'll be jealous of all the tsx owners i see on the road still haha, but oh well...at least i can take them off the line

The '05 altima should be pretty nice, (not sure how that is ok, but a tsx isnt, since you said financial was more the reason) but either way good luck.

i meant credit-wise...not really straight up money-wise. it's a long story, and i'm not even exactly sure what the whole story is..so yea, anyway it's bad enough so that we basically can't get another acura/honda, at least in the near future.

Stay away from the Altima 4 cyl engine. I had the same 2.5L engine in my 2002 Sentra and had nothing but problems. It had 3 separate recalls, would never start in the morning and burned oil. I dumped it after 6 dealers visits at 2 different dealerships and they still couldn’t fix all the issues. Good luck.

Nothing wrong with a Altima 3.5 SE. 250HP and all new Interior that is leaps and bounds better than than before. Not to mention revised rear and front end treatments that give the car a cleaner look.

It amazes me when I see people having difficulty financially and somehow still are not willing to tackle it. Getting a new car a few thousand cheaper than the TSX is not the answer. Pay cash for a 5 year old Accord, get your finances in order and then get a new car. Or better yet keep you current car!!!!

Mazda3 Sport GT for sure! made in Japan! very fun to drive and partical too. Mazda dun have good record on reliablity but most came from 626. The 323/Miata line are always good on relibility. None of my friends have P5 or miata ever have ne problem.

This is excellent advice. Assuming you have financial problems, no car transaction of any sort other than cash will help you out. CARS ARE A MONEY-LOSING SINKHOLE. We here are indulging passions/psychoses. If you dont have the finances to installlment purchase a car easily, DONT DO IT AT ALL. It's one thing to scrimp and save for a home or education, a whole 'nother kettle 'o fish for a stupid car. Biker is right.

I wanted to say the same thing but we don't really know the entire story. Although it definently sounds like a NEW car isn't a good idea.

I am agreeing with biker a lot today This is a mixed blessing - take the opportunity to get your finances in order, don't stretch for a car!

Postwhore!!!

And, I agree with biker. If financial reasons prevent you from purchasing a TSX then a car just a few thousand less isn't going to help. Go with the Mazda 3 or a Honda Civic.

Yeah, there are plenty of ugly but servicable cars around some of which are dirt cheap, others are probably almost free. Education is worth a stretch, maybe a house is if they're not overvalued in your area.

My first car cost $180.....

If you've got a bad history with Honda/Acura specifically through their Honda Financial Services and that's why you can't get another Honda/Acura and you are in a financial posture to take on a new car payment, you can always apply for financing through a thrid party lender (bank, credit union, online lender (capital one auto finance, e-loan)). If you're looking at the Mazda 3 or 6 - that would be the equivalent of a Civic or Accord and if a third party lender would finance you, you can get whatever you want.

But, if your financial position is so tight that you really can't afford a car now - then do what others have said. Either keep the car you've got, or if you've got to get another car, get a cheap used car (preferably Honda or Toyota - for reliability). Just my 2 cents.
