Lotsa threads on this in the News forum. The TSX was originally planned as a low volume car with only 15,000 units to be made annually. However, demand has increased significantly and the cars are now up to 3,500 units per month with little time in inventory. Basically, Acura is selling them as fast as they can make them. Don't worry about actual numbers are those tend to be misleading.

yup, 3500 x 12 months = 42k p/year... not bad for a vehicle with original sales estimates of 15 p/year

Never judge a car by some made up "category". I'd venture to guess it's ranked number one in the A-TSX category.

Best way to determine how well a car is selling is not actual number of cars sold, but rather number of days in inventory. A car that is selling well will not sit in inventory long whereas a car that is selling poorly will sit in inventory for a longer period of time. I wish the magazines would publish that information.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the average TSX stays on the dealer's lot for 16 days, which is the SAME as the Mini-Cooper.

It remains a hot seller, exceeding Honda's sales goals by a wide margin.

I thought that was something like 10 days not too long ago. Either way a hot seller.

Of course Acura is also very good at shipping just enough so it doesn't sit on the lot.

Well I think that initial estimate was very conservative considering the value of the car, they wanted to sell 1250/month while a very similiar car- 325i sells 4000/month. Acura also seems to underproduce cars to keep demand high, which would lead to cars not being in inventory very long.

Wow, I though Accord was only forecasted at 30,000/year. They actually sold more TSX than what they predicted with new Accord? I wonder how many Accord were sold last year?

Go Acura go.

They say the Prius' time is 6 days, yet I dare anyone to find a Prius in the lot of a dealer. Those things have a wait time of 10 months here in CA.

Even that stat is misleading.

In just 2 months TSX sightings are more often now. But not as many as TL.
Why is TL so popular? I don't consider it as Japanese car. The TLs are made of 100% US part and built in US. Do they have new TL in Japan? I know last model was sold in Japan as 'Inspire'.

It probably takes them 6 days to unload the truck, pull the protestive wrapping off everything and get the paper work in order.

As far as I know, my car came off the truck the day before I picked it up. They had it cleaned up and ready to go for me bright and early the next morning. Can't imagine it would take much longer for other cars.

Keep in mind though, that an Acura dealership probably sells (rough rough estimate... about 250 dealers, 170k per year, divided by 12, for monthly) close to 60 cars per month. A Toyota dealership on the other hand could sell as many as 60 cars in a week. Higher volume equals less attention paid to each customer and an overall longer time to do things. Less efficiency plain and simple.

And keep in mind, Acura strives for the luxury 'experience.' Hence, they probably pampered you by getting your car off the truck as quickly as possible. At Toyota dealerships, move 'em in, move 'em out. Perhaps a bit of an exaggeration, but you see my point.

Go Acura go.
They sell over 30,000 Accords per Month. In fact about 40,000 per Month.
