Is the leather in our TSX genuine?

Wow, the Acura marketing team sure did an outstanding job. What really worries me is that other manufacturers clearly state whether real or faux leather is used or inserted....
Ah well, I'll shop around a couple of more weeks before I pull the trigger.

I believe the upper sides of the bolsters (non perfed) are leather as well. If not, its different stuff from the vinyl that covers the back and lower sides of the seats.
Very, very few cars have the lower sides and backs of seats made of leather, and frankly, its a waste if they do.

I don't believe the center armrest covering is real leather, it's vinyl (even though my previous post says otherwise). But I remain convinced the the seat facings are real leather. Feel and see the texture difference between the side vinyl and the real leather, subtle but noticeable.

I test drove an A4 a few weeks ago, and none of the upholstery was leather. All vinyl! and :ghey:

I could smell the leather a little in my old Legend.
I had a 78 BMW - always could smell the leather.

Crazytree got banned because... he was an idiot, and he demonstrated that on many occasions before the mods had enough with him. I know I wouldn't have tolerated his shit as long as they have...

Three Wheelin'
The S2000's interior the same way, but note the entire seating surface (not just the cnter perf area) is real leather. I would expect the TSX is the same way. It's easily to tell the difference just by rubbing the surface; the fake stuck actually feels softer. I use Lexol leather care products and their vinyl protectant too. BTW, the center armrest in my S2000 is perforated vinyl.

Guys my post here was made WAYYY after he was banned and long gone. I wasnt insulting anyone...it was a joke about an old idiot member who we are better off with out.
Do you guys know crazytree? Were you even around when he was banned 10 times from this site? Trust me that if you were offended by my remark your jaw would be on the floor if you read what he wrote to me. This is taken out of context, a context that goes beyond this ancient post and to many other idiotic things and very personal attacks on me and other members.
And for the record, nothing is idiotic about his post here. But he still is and always will be a big idiot.

Applied Lexol Conditioner to Vinyl - Problem?
Before finding this thread about which parts of the TSX seats are real leather and which parts are vinyl, I followed my dealer's service department's advice and applied Lexol leather conditioner (Lexol Wipes) to the entire seat.
I'm concerned about whether applying leather conditioner to vinyl does any type of damage to the vinyl or whether it just didn't matter. If it's bad for the vinyl, is there something that I can apply to "undo" it? (I just applied the Lexol yesterday.)
Also, is there finally some consensus on what's vinyl and what's leather? From what I've read here, the center perforated areas are leather, while the rest of the seat is vinyl. If it makes any difference, my TSX is a 2006 with parchment interior.
Thanks!

the leather in the 06 as i posted in another thread seems way softer than the 04 (just traded it in for 06). The leather aroma on the 04stayed around for well over a year which was nice as well. The 06 feels like you are flying in business class with the seats being real comfortable.

WTF! There are very few cars with leather seats that use real leather on the entire seat (seating surfaces, side bolsters, headrests, console covers, etc.). The only one I can think of that I've recently been in is the Pontiac GTO which has a fantastic full leather interior. Most cars (primarily American cars) are trimmed exactly like our TSX - with leather seating surfaces.
There was never any literature on the TSX that said it was a full leather interior. Our seats are clearly leather only on the perforated parts of the seats, both seat and backrest. It isn't the highest grade, but it's not crap either. The rest of the seat is all vinyl, however it is an extremely high grade of vinyl (yes it comes in grades just like leather) as it has fooled a fair number of you guys, not to mention salespeople of the TSX.
Beyond all this, my 2004 TSX which I've owned for 1 1/2 years now, still smells like a saddle shop when I get in. I'm more than happy with this interior.

My Garage
I seriously think that someone could post a sworn statement from the president of Honda saying that the seats are full leather or part leather or whatever, and there would still be people who don't believe.
