Lease price too expensive...

I currently own a 2004 TSX, lease is up in 6/06. Just out of curiosity, I contacted the dealer to determine a ball park for a 3 year lease, 12 k, 0 down. $430! That is freakin ridiculous! You can get a TL for $480-490. Anyone think that they are too expensive to lease?

What's the actual selling price of the vehicle before TTL?

Well, I would assume the list price whatever that is now...$27,000? I think it went up an additional $400 when I leased mine. The dealer mumbled something about they only made 23,000 vehicles last year. So I can assume that they are selling well. I will just have to extend my lease by another 6 months. I was hoping that they would be close to what I was paying. But I think they are going to start pricing themselves out because that is way too high for that car.

Regardless of car, your monthly payment depends on five things:
1) Starting cost
2) Residual cost
3) Lease rate
4) Term
5) Down payment

Using the online calculator at Acura.com, a 6MT non-navi TSX goes for $481.10/mo for 36mo, 12k/yr, and $0 down. A base TL with the same criteria is $579.87/mo.
So over the term of your lease, the TL will cost about $3500 more.

A TL MSRP is $5900 more than the TSX, so you'll eat two thirds of that price difference over the duration of the lease. Based on that, I'd say the TSX is a pretty good value.

Yes, I understand that, but the price is about a $100 more per month now than it was when the car came out. That is what I find crazy.

Regardless, the lower you can negotiate the selling price, the better off you'll be...assuming your input for the rest of the lease variables is $0 down, 36 mos, 12K miles. You don't have much if any control over #2 and #3.
