edit: MOREACE hole

Hey larch, a while back you and someone else recommended some roads here in NY. Specifically I think 684 was mentioned.Nice ride!!! Road surface was a bit harsh though, it seemed as if it was concrete or something that you drive on as opposed to blacktop.
Why didn't 87 (thruway) get mentioned or even 84 heading west from 87?? Awesome awesome roads to drive on!!!!! (esp. post break-in!!!)
I'm actually hoping to try and do a pseudo road trip with the gf to like the area around Tenn. and N.C. where TOV has that little video test drive of the Accord and TSX goin right now.

Well, actually I DID mention 87 -- but I guess I don't like it as much as you do!

http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/show...0001#post10001

684 is super-smooth, a little picturesque, and goes through places that are really neat and a little off the beaten path.

Compared to that, 87 - not!

And 84, pretty good, but kind of like Grand Am vs. Acura in terms of where you go through. Apologies to all who live along 84. Besides, as I keep saying, wtf do I know anyway?

LOL!!
You try sleepng when it's 80 and muggy and no AC!! Then go to work the next day. Let's see, the mayor of NYC the gov. of NY State the gov. of NJ all say ALL non-essential personell please stay home and not try to travel to NYC or anywhere else. Best bet is to go to the beaches.
Oh wait...all those except who work in the stock exchange. BUMMER
Oh and I know the nav/navi thread I think I enjoyed that one from the sidelines and just decided to throw it in my sig for shits and giggles.

Remember DEER, if it's at night. Also you have to keep your eyes closed or else you get blinded.

I know. That's all I kept thinking about when I was on 84 since that was at night.
Blinded by oncoming lights? Isn't there a concrete barrier as a center divider? Or is it not high enough?
If not I must be thinking of another road

Yeah. Either you're thinking of another road, or you've been lucky enough to be just on the better portions of the Taconic. There are stretches where there's no barrier (or maybe it's just low -- don't know for sure), plus there's little separation between the two sides of the road. Everything's right in your face.

As you probably know, the Berkshires are (is?) a popular vacation area for NY'ers. The fastest way to get to most parts of the Berkshires is the Taconic. A lot of people use alternate routes that take up to a half hour more because they find the Taconic so intimidating. I sometimes do it myself when I want to just be mellow.
