Keep the TSX 05 or go with an si 10

Long story short. I have now a tsx 05 auto almost paid now only few months left. Right now I have about 48k miles on it. I was wondering if I should buy the acura care plan for another 2 years or not at all or just switch to a brand new civic si sedan? Any opinion?

thanks

Pay it off, and don't have a note?
Yea, that's my vote.
Why would you buy a new car just because your current one is about to be paid off? That seems like the worst time to go finance a new one to me. Is there something wrong with the TSX?

Personally, I would keep the TSX. Its just more luxurious compared to the SI Sedan. I think the TSX looks better too, but the 010 Civic SI is faster... than say the 05 TSX, but the TSX is still more luxurious and a better value.

why go from a nice TSX to a cheap civic? SI or not, a civic is a civic. this thread is an insult to the TSX.

Personally I would keep the tsx-after it is paid off-start putting the payment money you were making into a savings account. I almost traded in my 06 tsx but changed my mind-love having no car payment. No problems with my car either.

I haven't driven a SI before but they sound really fun. TSX could get a little boring after 5 years.

CSX type S if you are in Canada, get all the good stuff of a fully loaded Acura, but the fun of the SI.

Si is not going to be different enough to justify the trade. If you are going to trade, get something more fun and different.

Keep the TSX... I test drove both the SI and a TSX, I was so impressed with the TSX, I recommended one to my mom...I live in Syracuse NY, and the SI set up was horrible in wintery conditions. The SI didn't seem to weigh enough (Even for front wheel drive).

TSX to SI is considered a downgrade, why go that route?

Why? The Si is brand new, whereas the TSX is 5 years old, and is the 1st generation model.

The one good argument for keeping the TSX is the fact that it's paid off.

Why would you put yourself into debt for no reason?

1. Buy a helical LSD (the one that's in the Si) and stick it in the TSX.
2. Hondata reflash.
3. Tein Basics + Progress RSB.
4. Go beat up on a 2010 Si that some idiot's paying payments on.

you gotta be kidding me.

If there is nothing wrong with the car then keep it for at least year or two... It's nice to have no more car payment.

Yeah, keep the TSX until you run it to the ground. It's a fine automobile and defeats the purpose in financing the vehicle if you're going to get another car after your payments are over.

I think I would take a used 2005 TSX over a brand new 2010 civic with my eyes closed. TSX and CIVIC in the same sentence just sounds wrong.

Ok?

I'd definitely think about a car that's 5 years newer, and offers better performance.

no car payments are nice. why dont you use the money you would've spent on some descent mods and put those those Si drivers to misery. =D

I was bitchin' at my tsx at first because it was supposedly a downgrade from my 05 TL but I Love my TSX now(maybe because I finally started and slowly planning out my mods for it. xD)

If you decide to go with the SI, lease it. So in 3+ years you can lease another car.

That's basically what you're doing since you paid off your TSX and thinking of trading it for a newer car.

I still think comparing a TSX to a civic is just wrong. A TSX is so much better than a Civic. I have an 04 TSX and it still runs great, like new. I test-drove a civic recently, and it feels nothing close to the ride of a TSX. SI or Regular, a Civic is a Civic. The SI is like 25-26 grand.. why spend that much on a damn civic! a TSX starts at 29 and gives you so much more. Even a fully loaded Honda Accord is like 28-30.

To put it simply:

1 keep the tsx
2 when you are done paying it off, divert your payment to an investment of your choice, be it savings to stock, etc.
3 buy a used SI for cash in a couple of years to keep the miles off the TSX (or whatever else you want to do with the money)

I'd run the TSX into the ground. In fact, I'm actually doing that with my 05 auto.
