The highs are crisp, and the bass is tight provided you don't crank a bass heavy song all the way up.
One of my friends thought I had a sub in the trunk.

Not bad for a non-branded system (HK, ML, Bose ).

I wouldn't say it's "awesome", but it's definitely not bad.

It all depends on what you most commonly listen to. It works pretty well for the type of music I like.

Every now and then I get complements about it.

If I'm not mistaken, the components are a mixture of Alpine and Pioneer. I know that the rear deck speakers are Pioneer speakers (per label on the magnet), and I believe the head unit is Alpine. As for the other components, I couldn't say for sure.

I can't complain, the BOSE in my 01TL was better, but I have no complaints about the TSX system. Sometimes road noise hurts, but that will get better after I get new tires.

I like nice clean sound and I don't plan on doing anything. As long as you keep it below 20, it sounds nice to me.

It's just you. The stock system is horrible. I spent $200 to replace all 6 speakers with Alpine and the sound improvment is remarkable. The stock ones are worst than the some of the cheapest speakers in the market.

I actually find it pretty good as well. No, its not "awesome" but its very respectable for a stock system.

Stock is OK, it needs more power! I installed a new amp and still have the stock speakers in the rear doors. I was pretty impressed by how much better they sound with a new amp and how much power they can actually take!

You could make a big improvement with a 5-channel amp. Pick up some crossovers to split the front full range speakers between the door speakers and subs. Full range to the rear doors, and put your 6x9's in parallel, running them off the sub channel. Then decide if you really need new speakers.

Most people who have replaced speakers only (and not the amp as well) don't seem to get nearly the improvement they were hoping for. Many of the aftermarket speakers are less efficient than the stock speakers. So even thought the sound quality from them is better, the amp has to work even harder to maintain the same volume. As you push the amp toward its limits, sound quality really suffers, negating the effects of the "better" speakers.

Besides the lack of power, the stock amp has some crossovers, filtering and bass-boosting that's not the most desirable. Check out this thread on overcoming this issue

And here is proof that your install can be stealthy.

My older Solara's stock JBL were better. The TSX has a fair system, but it depends on people's perception and how much of a trained ear they have. For me, if I wanted to listen to a high quality sound, I go home and listen to it using my home system without road noise!

I think TSX's high and boom boom bass are ok, but the mids and bass guitars are missing.

I like the system. I don't listen to music too loud nowadays but I hav no problem crankin it up on occasion: it sounds good enough to me. It does depend on the music listened too, road noise, etc. I still have an amp sittin around from my younger days and have thought of upgrading the system but in the end thought it was just a waste of money... for me anyway.

i'm no audiophile so what i say don't hold much water... but the tsx oem sound system, to me, is "good".

i turn down the bass to 4 and treble to 5 and that seems to be a good compromise for all the types of music i listen to in the car...

I don't recommend you use the 6x9 as a subwoofer alternative. You will get a lot of rattles out of the rear deck. I had to get my whole rear deck dynamat'ed or else I would've gone crazy.

But yea, out stock system is actually pretty good. My friend who drives an S2K thought I had aftermarket speakers, haha.

If you don't play the music loud, I suggest you keep the stock speakers. But if you DO play it loud, getting aftermarket speaker is a must because the stock sounds pretty bad when it's turned up.

Compared to the cars my friends drive its an amazing stereo. I went a little further and put a 12" R-type in, and soon going to replace the factory speakers with alpine R-types as well, most likely with a new amp too.

If you're going to upgrade just your speakers, do your fronts. When you're at a concert, you're main focal point is in front of you; Front stage.

it is branded in my 2004 TSX, Its a pioneer system. look in your trunk underneath the speakers, the both say PIONEER on them. And Pioneer is a pretty damn good speaker company..

yep you are right, they are actually one of pioneers better speakers ( they where last i checked about 2 years ago) my friend bought the pioneer speakers a model below our and they where not cheap. They sound just as good or better than the bose in my friends altima. But what I noticed is that i have to keep my bass below 0 when i put my volume around max or else the speakers start popping, i don't think they are blown because that's the only time they do that.
