bestia69,

What kind of arrangements did you make when you bought it? Did you pay in full? Did the dealer tell you they just needed to prep it or are you having accessories installed? Typically, if the dealer has the car on the lot you should be able to drive it away that same day. If they insist that it needs to be prepped it should by no means take 4 days, thats crazy. Call them up today (now) and ask them what's going on. The dealer should be just as anxious to get your car off the lot to make room for more new cars.

Went to the dealer at 4pm on a Saturday with nothing but my wallet. Found the car I want and agreed to the deal. Went online at the dealer to buy insurance (my sales guy called me crazy....first time he seen someone buying insurance online on the spot). All my money was in my savings account so I told the finance manager I will send them a check within 7 days. By the time the paperwork was done it was near closing time. They prep my car pretty fast and I was able to get the car off the lot right away. I don't understand why the dealer has to keep the car that you BOUGHT for more than a day to prep and install accessories.

Did you have insurance on a previous car? As long as you had proof of insurance on that car in hand when you purchased, that should be all the dealer needed. Getting the car added to your policy is up to you after you make the purchase - nothing to do with the dealer. Sounds kinda fishy.

Bring your current insurance papers down and call the ins. co. ahead of time telling them you are buying a new car and need to have that on your policy.

Once at the dealer, go "here's my insurance confirmation, where's my car".

Shame on your dealer. From a salesperson's point of view, I wouldn't even want you to leave the dealership driving anything but your new car. I understand that that perhaps wasn't possible this time, but the dealer should be working hard to close the deal.

Did he say why? Your the customer, you need to ask him some pointed questions.

Very strange, something is not right here! Have you seen the car since you first saw it 4 days ago. My mind would be wondering what they are doing to the car, or are they just stalling as they already sold your car to someone else and are trying to get a replacement in ASAP.
I would just go down there with all your insurance paperwork and demand to see the car as you now own it. They have no reason to keep it from you ITS YOUR CAR. I remember when I bought mine I went down to the dealership at 8pm and they stayed open until I took the car and drove it off the lot. They cleaned the car and prepped it for me within 30 minutes and I was ready to go. I didn't change the insurance on to my new car until the following day when I got home from work. The dealership simply just asked me who my insurance was with and wanted to see documentation for my current car and they were happy.

Not sure how it works in other states but in California your existing insurance automatically covers any new car for a period of 30 days. All the dealership needs to see is proof that you have an existing insurance policy in place. In my case, when I went to pick up my car, I just showed the dealer my proof of insurance. This was on a Friday. The following Wednesday I called my insurance company (Allstate) and told them I had purchased a car. Theoretically, I didn't need to call them until 30 days after the new car was purchased. There is something else going on with the dealer.

hey bestia, i see you decided on the tsx instead of the civic si u kept raving about? lol

ya you definitely should've had it by now... i bought mine and picked it up within a few days... you have to provide the insurance... after they have that it has to get detailed and PDI if they haven't done that yet, but the PDI takes less than an hour to be honest... (that's if it's a brand new car...)

hmm... in Georgia if yuo have full coverage insurance, your current automobile insurance automatically covers your new car as long as they are notified of the purchase. Still not following why they are keeping the car so long. I think the car has already been sold and they are trying to get another in as well.

I went to look at cars on a Sunday. They told me that they had what I wanted coming in that Wed. I got called early in the week and the car came in on Friday, and I took it home on Friday night, so I waited about 5 days, and that was with the car not even on the lot. Your dealer is screwing with you. I called my insurance company at the dealership when I picked my car up.

bestia69 - I have bought nearly 15 new cars so far, this statement does not make any sense. What are YOU doing to resolve this. Take some initiative instead of waiting around for a call from the dealer. I cannot believe that YOU did not drive the car off the lot the day YOU bought it and I also cannot believe the dealer let you leave WITHOUT the car. Once you drive it off the lot it is YOURS.

Yup...I think that's what they did. They probably sold your car and trying to dealer trade for another one right now. I say to walk into the dealer, demand your car, or void the contract (if that's possible).

To my knowledge, typical car dealers don't want to keep any "sold" cars on their lots. Each brand new car sitting on their floor that has been claimed for is a liabilty.

Are you having problems with your insurance? You need to provide more details so we can understand your situation with this dealer and your new TSX a bit better. Furthermore, as others have stated, start being pro-active... You need to have this matter resolved quickly before something else goes wrong.

Keep us posted ... and (as mentioned) provide MORE details. So far, none of this makes any sense!

Good luck,

Good luck,
k thank you everyone for all your supportive inputs. lets first start off by saying that i purchased a 2006 tsx, no body kits, no spolier; pretty basic i guess- this was on monday the deal was done and signed and around 9 oclock at night. i couldnt contact my insurance company at that time obviously. so i send the insurance conformation the other day. but my parents want to change the insurance under my mother since it will be cheaper. anyways the dealer wants to see more information like how much my mom makes in a year, crap like that which is stupid but i should be picking the car up i believe on monday.

ok so you're not 39? i'm guessing you're between the age of 16-20? and based on what you said about the dealership having to check how much your mom makes..etc...it sounds to me that it has nothing to do with insurance...sounds like you're parents are co-signing for you and they want to make sure you guys qualify?

Quick Reply: just bought my new tsx
