aragrev7, you are my new hero. No vendors have offered us custom illuminated door sills. There were a lot of vendors offering this for the TL, but the tsx was left out. I want you to now know that you will soon be bombarded with people asking you to make these for them or at least post up a DIY. Please tell me you took pictures of the process, and PLEASE consider making a DIY for other forum members. Looks great!

lol thanks for the compliment Simba! Between City work, coaching, big brother program for 2 boys, supervising a youth halfway house, and giving attention to my wife lol, it took me many weeks to complete. So no not really much time on my hands More that I enjoy working on my ride. I'm hoping to throw up a DIY, again when I have time. I took a lot of pictures don't worry! (Mostly to make sure I don't forget what I was doing over the weeks lol)
I cooouuuld maybe make some. But they are time consuming. If I was turning a profit it might be practical to make time for I suppose. Would have to figure out how many people are interested. I will forsure be around to answer questions!

I personally wouldn't do this mod, but good work on being able to accomplish it. Good self-doability.

I still think white would look better though

This is one of the few things my husband has obsessed with about my car-- I have a feeling if these were available I'd have to get them! That and it looks so nice....

(His only other obsession is my front strut tower brace that he doesn't have on his WRX... yet :P )

Lol as for colour of the LEDs, they can be whatever colour you want
blue-white-purple-green-red-orange-RGB... All I need to do is install a different LED. If the LED colour is available, it can be done. Some are easier to manage. I chose blue because the stock spot light on my shifter is blue, as well as the stock backlight above my console trays. Blue also happens to be my favorite colour and I think looks best with my car. White would look sharp too if thats what you have.
I will look into cutting costs etc. Unfortunately, I'm a busy guy too. But either I can get these done, or we'll have everyone getting them done from a DIY. I'm always available for questions. Locals can for sure swing by for a chat and a peek at how they look. With my installation, there are no wires trailing anywhere, as everything is tucked under trim.

Yeah. They can be expensive even over at magauto.com (by far the cheapest site including shipping. They may still offer you free shipping on orders over $75.00) Anyways, how hard is it to pry out the door sills w/out breaking any clips? Is it relatively easy?

Lol that's the problem with text simba no emotion! I was/am in good spirits.
And for pulling out the sills, you won't break them! They pop out nicely. Just do it slow and work around the sill. Honestly when I got to the third and fourth one I popped a corner and lifted them out. I don't forsee any damages that way if your careful are you planning to start the project?

Yep. As soon as your DIY is up! I think i can do the wiring with some simple diagram. It's not too difficult is it? The only issue I'm going to have is with the cutting. I'd need some help from someone else or else I can't do it. I definitely don't have the tools. I think I'd do mine bright white. Do yours come on when you open the doors? Or are they attached to the interior lighting somehow? Makes sense to only have them work when the doors are open.

Wow dude, I am waiting anxiously for your DIY. This has been the best lighting mod since the foot well lighting.

Thread subscribed.

Also, if I do this mod, I can finally have a reason to remove the blue protective film

*bump* Just another interested member, I last posted in 08' when we were getting close to a group buy for these. I think this is an awesome upgrade, if you ever get the time for a DIY, I would be most grateful.

Sry guys it's been so long. I just finished my
Move to BC 21hr drive with 3 cars and atrailer lol! And have been attending my premastes program ever since. Needless to say I have been very busy this past while. Gaming instead of studying. Jk. I will get this up. U fortunately some of my pics of the procedure have disappeared during the JB of my iPhone lol. I am going to just post the start of the DIY so ppl can get started. More pics to follow. More DIY to follow that.
Remember! Just msg me if you need help. I'll give you my email for quicker response. Plus I'm in BC now if anyone wants to meet up and SEE!!!
