I was thinking about not trading in my TSX...
I figured I should balance the "I want to trade in my TSX" threads with a "I don't want to trade in my TSX" thread. lol
My '04 5AT is about to tip 100k miles. She's at 99,9xx right now and it's only a matter of days. I'm keepin' the camera handy. I hope to take a picture at 99,999 and 100,000 (yes, I'm crazy).
Other than the A/C system exploding (thank goodness for an extended warranty), she's been a solid car. I hope to put many many more miles on her after the 100k milestone.
That is all. lol

Make a hole, coming thru!
I figured the loan, and the warranty, timed to zero out at about the same time ... so that I can keep cruising in this. I don't plan to change cars for another 7 years.

my TSX will most likely never be traded in or sold.
I will keep it until one day I will convert it to be electric.
probably 10-15 years down the line.
or maybe give it to my kid as his/her first car whenever that
day ever arrives...
she's a keeper for me, no doubt.

Well, I want to make that 100,000 mile plateau also. Right now, I am at 68,300 miles. Also, having no car payment is nice.
Btw, what was the mileage on your 04 TSX when you bought it used thunder04?

I love my TSX. When I needed my new/used transmission I pretty much assumed that I would be keeping the car forever as the resale value would go down the tube.
My only regret is that I didn't buy an AWD car due to where I live, but everything I like about the TSX outweighs that feature.
If I were trade in my TSX, I would have to get another Acura.

Oliver!!!
Yeah, I went into this car with the intention of keeping it for a LONG time. I had my Mazda for 6 1/2 years, and would have kept it a lot longer if it had a few more things in it (ABS in particular. Not offered for some reason on that car until a few years later.) The TSX has everything I want and more.

Let me help you!
I originally got my car with a plan to possibly trade it in for a 2010 or 2011 TSX (back when it was rumored the 2nd gen would have the RDX's turbo engine), but after seeing the 2nd gen, I'm keeping this car forever. After all, I have had no issues at all with my car. It is definitely a tank mechanical-wise.
Where else can you get a fully loaded car for under $30k? If I were to go to Lexus or BMW, I would either have to shell out thousands of more money to spec it the same as the TSX, or I'd have to get the poor man's version (base model) to keep it at the TSX's price.

I should say I sold my Jeep after 21 years and 155,000 miles. So I'm not one of those who has to have a fresh ride every few years.
I worked with a numbskull who bought a Jeep on a whim when we worked together,... and moaned that his "negative equity" situation was getting out of hand. He'd bought 6ix cars in 5ive years (between his wife and he)! I can understand trading in a lemon for a better car, but switching cars and paying more (for the loan payback) just defies reason. (I suspect he's not doing that anymore in this economy.)

I would never ever think of trading in a car when it's worth less than what is owed (unless circumstances forced the situation). That's just plain stupid!

When I bought my TSX brand new a few years back, I told myself I plan to keep it for 10 years. There were numerous occasions where I was tempted to "cheat" on my car but after seeing just how bad recent Acura and Hondas have gotten in the design department and the current state of the economy, I will be keeping the Baby T for the foreseeable future.
It's got a clean and classy interior/exterior design that Acura now seems to have forgotten in their newer cars, and most importantly, it's still great fun to drive. Love it.
My car just surpassed the 50k mile mark too.

hey, cool thread!
After watching a couple of those Acura Legend videos, I'm hoping this is one of those cars that can be kept for at least 200k miles, or 300k if I can keep it going. I love this car, and it loves me back.

i plan on keeping my car for a long time too! my lease ends in a few months and i fully plan of keeping her... i'll end up paying a little more in the long run, but its worth it if you ask me. outside of some catastrophy the only way i'm giving her up is if someone prys the keys from my cold dead fingers

Just past 50K. Still love the car. It's my second one. Had 05 6MT, traded for 06 5AT... I know I never thought to modify the car much until I found this site. 10K later and still having fun. My goal this year is to try and pay the car down significantly so I can enjoy driving with no payments. I jsut have to stop the mod itch...

Can't wait to drive
I traded mine in. But, if I didn't have to drive in traffic, and if and cops aren't out there trying to get me last year, I would've kept my car much longer. My 1st gen TSX was fun for the entire 70k miles...so close to 100k!

It's good to see all the TSX love.
The only things I've done to my car is installed a drop-in K&N filter and the DICE iPod Integration Kit. Otherwise, she's stock. At some point in the future I may decide to do more serious mods, but for now I'm pretty content.
