I know where all the weight comes from!

Guys,
I got my driver seat and rails replaced today. The mecanic showed me the spare parts (fulll seat and seat rails). I tried lifting the rail system. HOLY COW, the rail system weighs aroud 40lbs. The seat by itself is good for another 50-60 lbs.

Just wanted to share...

A-HA. Mystery solved. Did you have the grinding problem or the "sliding seat" problem? I had the rails replaced on mine too (both problems). It still slides a bit, but the grinding is gone.

I would love to do it, except the fact I don't wanna loose my side airbags.

All that weight in the driver rail is probably to keep you seat in place in case of a crash.

If you really want to save weight, you can be bold and remove your spare tire/tools and replace it with a bottle of fix-a-flat

good to hear that that you got your rail problem fixed. Luckily I don't have that problem. Either they fixed it in the "mid-year" revision or i got lucked out
