Unhappy I just Test Drove EVO8 (Review)

Ok this is my PERSONAL opinion and opinion about the EVO8 please try to be analytical on your replies

I decided to go and test drive the EVO8 because I was actually considering selling my TSX and getting and AWD car turbocharged.

Looks: the car looks great sporty and I love the way the intercooler looks on the front of the car.

Handling and bracking: I was very disappointed with braking of the car. I had to put lot of pressure on the break to make the little car stop. After all this car has Brembo breaks I was even going that fast and tried to stop and at stop sign and I felt the ABS system working... I was like WTF
you would feel every single bump on the road with this car and very uncomfortable to drive. my TSX lower with eibach pro-kit feels like walkin on clouds
Handling I am not impressed by it ... I drove the A4 6cyl quatroo and I would fuckin own this EVO8 cornering... BAD BAD...

Interior: It made feel like a economy class rental cars... the steering wheel is almost to small and everything was plastic and manual seats... the gauges OH GOD that was one of the worst thing about the interior of this car ... I needed glasses to see how fast I was going( TOO DARK and SMALL )I was like hell NO...

Performance: OK I got in the car and I push it the there is some turbo lag on this car but when the boost hits you GO... shifting was very rough and I did not like the way the car shifts from 2do to 4th...

when I was coming back home I felt my TSX like driving a Ferrari... I would never even think of selling my car now after that experience...

YOU TSX owner give your self a pat in the back for buying a
TSX

glad you are still happy with your TSX... but i really can't see the A4 quattro or TSX touching it in any performance category..maybe you just weren't used to it? the track times for the evo are way out of TSX's league.

you right track times but go drive this car every day and you would hate it...

This car is a car to take weekends to the track that is it ... no wonder I see so many few on the street

I was not comparing A4 to TSX and I would not even get into that it would be another thread...

its not for everybody for sure. but i was more responding to your comments how the handling/braking is not "good", it kicks arse in those areas compared to the TSX and A4

i have a friend that owns a WRX and i have driven it a few times. the biggest complaint about the WRX is the turbo lag, until it gets going it reminds me of a civic. the interior of the WRX is chep to put it best. there is no carpet padding to speak of under the carpet, all the materials are pretty much cheap.
the wrx when under full boost is a great ride ill give it that, but not quiet by any means and from what he tells me eats a lot of gas. i think even highway he said he gets about 25 MPG

i havnt driven the EVO but from car and driver they rate both cars very similar in many categories.
if all your after is a cheap fast awd car either the WRX or the EVO i think is a good choice. If you just want fast and cheap go for the SRT-4
i think the TSX is in a class all its own, the only cars that offer the proformance and comfprt and refinement in 1 package say BMW and cost about 10-20 k more. i drove a brand new 330i with the M package, very rare from what im told has everything but the M3 engine. anyway it was just a schoshe faster than the TSX and RWD but IMO very close in refinment but not quite there, just a little bigger than my car and the shifter was not as crisp. the main thing being it was stickered at somthing like 40K

What are you looking for exactly? AWD race car? AWD daily driven semi luxury car?

This is coming from a guy who owns both a TSX and an Evo (my fiance daily drives it, she LOVES boost!!!!!.)
Youre talking about apples and oranges here. The Evo, STi, etc are factory race cars. A6, A4, TSX are not. 2 different things.

As for the suspension being too rough........hahahahaha. I guess the Evo, S2000, STi, Type R, Neon SRT-4, those types of cars are not for you. These type of cars are not for everyone.

The interior does suck, I agree w/ you there. The only good thing about it is the Recaros and the Momo wheel. That comment you made about the steering wheel being too small..........again hahahahaha.

Handling......if you think an A4 Quatro can take the Evo, I'd like to see it try.

Performance on the Evo is f'n awesome!! For a stock car w/ 19psi I was a lil weary, but not anymore. Turbo lag.............turbo kicks in w/ very minimal lag. I've driven the S4, STi, Vishnu Stage 2 WRX, and a bunch of turbo cars. The Evo is one of the best cars Ive driven performance wise.

You are right TSX and EVO are 2 different things... I was not expenting a luxury car I was just expenting a car feel like $30,000.

I would still say paying $27-30 Gs for this car you have to be retarded ... I am not saying you are ... but I am 24 yrs old and not an old guy that likes to drive cadillacs ... for a person my age the EVO should have been great sport cars. WELL not for me this car would be last on my list ... I would rather go with American muscle car

I know youre not saying that I (who paid 30k out the door for an Evo) is not retarded. Im happy for the purchase, and got a kick ass deal 3rd day it came out.

I am 27 y/o and I dont like Cadillacs either except for the CTS-V (race model for the CTS, that thing is f'n bad ass). As I said before these types of cars the Evo, STi (not WRX) Type R, etc are not for everyone, and obviously isnt for you.

What type of American Muscle? Non Rousch or Non Saleen Mustang?

You should definately drive the STI WRX. I`m noy sure if you read my reviews about 2 weeks ago after i test drove the STI, EVO, SRT-4 and RX-8......but let me tell you---- THE WRX STI KICKS ASS. Go drive it and it blow you away. Even though i love my TSX....i am considering in leasing a STi on reduced insurance for 7500 miles a year

if he cant stand the interior of the Evo, the steering wheel being to small, the suspension being so rough, and the "not a smooth TSX" shifts.......he wont like the STi.

But you should test drive it though. I had a deposit on the STi until we decided on the Evo. I didnt want 2 boosted cars so I got the TSX.

I`m not sure about all that. but i did hear rumors of a bad tranny in the STI....but that was during pre-production. All those kinks have been worked out and now you have a bad-ass car
