I got ORDERS to Japan! what would YOU do??????

Buy a TSX in Japan. What's it called again? But I think it's quite expensive to own a car there. And the Nav wouldn't work there anyhow. Then on top of that, they drive on the "wrong" side of the road. Stirring wheel would be different.

Oh hell, there are some nice cars in Japan that will never come over to the US... sell the other car, let your wife keep the TSX, and go crazy on the hills of Akina...

Dude,
Been in your shoes. I went to Japan in 99 and returned in 01. Sold my 96 Honda Accord and severly regretted it--it was a very nice loaded auto.
Here's my recommendation--put your TSX in storage at gov't expense. Get two really reliable cars in Japan for about $3,000 (they should last your tour)...use your COLA to pay the TSX off. Trust me, you will have change to spare. COLA in Japan is very generous (they have slashed it over the years, but it's still pretty good). Oh...when I say reliable cars, I'm talking about 6 to 7 year old cars that are like new almost. Due to their stringent safety/inspection laws, cars are very well taken care of. If not, they are junked for parts. I got two (Ingtegra and Accord) that were almost 8 years old in fact, and I sold them for more than I bought them! I almost bought a 5 year old 300HP Nissan Skyline, but got orders back to the states...it was a beauty.
Just my two cents. Like I said, I've been there. If I had not sold my Accord, I would have returned to the states with a fully paid for car. Instead, I had to buy two cars from scratch when I got back. Ouch. Oh...I know it seems scary to put a car in storage...but I know folks that put Acura's, BMW's and Mercedes in storage, and after 3 years, they had no problem with the cars at all.
Good luck. If you have any questions, holler.

Store it. My Integra did great during my Korea tour. Then again, it was only one year. It started right up though, even with the old battery (yes we had disconnected it).
Good luck.
Good luck.

Think of the nifty JDM Accord accessories that you can buy for your TSX that we cannot buy here. I like AFTSX's logic. Keep and pay off the TSX while in storage.

I just got back from Japan, I was there TDY for 8 days! Where are you going? What branch of service. I was at the AF base (Kadena), very nice place. I would put the car in storage and get something over there, like AFTSX mentioned.
And OMG it is HOT as you have never felt hot before! Humidity is a killer, I have never sweated anywhere like I did there and I live in FLorida!

It's a Long tour so I'm sure I'll be there 2 most likely 3 years and if we like it I'll stay longer... And oh yes, I'll still be on this board... Maybe not 5 hours a day like now because I have an easy job but I'll keep in touch... I'll probably put stuff on ebay or list stuff on here that I find over there because I have a Paypal Acct...
