Hrmm... will it fit?
I am picking up a plasma TV in a few weeks and want to fit it in the TSX. Plasmas cannot be laid flat - they must remain upright. So, the box I need to fit is: 47"L x 33"H x 18.25"W.
Specs for the TSX rear seat area:
Headroom -- 37.3"
Hiproom -- 54.4"
Shoulder room -- 53.5"
So assuming this box will fit into the opening (the doors open 80*), it SHOULD fit, no? If not (I think headroom is measured from the lowest point of the L or R seats, not the top of the middle "seat"), how hard is it to remove the seat cushion (lower) to give me more height?
Any bets on if this will fit? I have to drive 40 minutes with this TV in the car... LOL!

I will use your measurements and check it out myself this weekend for sure to help double check your calcs
My intial guess would be to move the front seats all the way up (tight for your to drive yes) and it should fit but the hump between the seats may be an issue. I'll look into it!

I don't think it's going to fit, in the back of the rear floor there is is a hump in the floor that will get in the way. Try to ask someone with a bigger ride to help you out.

Headroom is measured from the seat, not the floor. I was thinking I'd put this on the seat! I'm 6'2" so putting the seats all the way forward would be death to my legs and back!
Can't rent a U-haul or anything like that, since I have to cross into the US to pick this baby up.

Unlikely you'll get that far. I've always found that the real problem will carrying anything large like that actually is getting it in the car. The trunk opening is not very big (relative to the trunk size) and forget about getting it in through a back door.

I just measured, and the only problem (as Simba91102 stated), is getting it through the rear door. If I were to take the door off... no problem! LOL!
Dimensions-wise, it'd fit if I removed the bottom seat cushion, but without removing the door it'd never fit. It's about 1.5" too thick.
Time to see if my buddy's Explorer Sport SUV will hold it. Supposedly it did NOT hold his 42" Toshiba. Mine is a 42" Panasonic so roughly the same size. We'll see I guess.

to my own experience. i will say no. I tried fitting in a 42's, and its hard already. not to say a 47's.
and yeaaa, might not be safe enough for your tv only if you get a bigger ride.
i got myself a R-class benz to get it for me. loL.

edit: It's not the seat cushion, it's the space between the door panel when open, and the 45* angled door sill.

I fit a lg 40 inch with the box way too big in BARELY
it took 5 minutes to pull out and 5 minutes to put in the car
twisting and turning and moving both seats foward...
i think youll have a rough time if you don't take it out the box.

I managed to fit a 42" LG LCD (42LC2D) in the back seat of my TSX (but without the box). It was a tight fit, it was balanced a little precariously, and the screen was not 100% vertical. Luckily I was only transporting it a couple of blocks. FWIW, I don't think I would have attempted it with a 45+ minute drive ahead of me.

Good luck! The rear doors are very small openings, as stated earlier. A couple weeks ago, I somehow managed to shove a chair into the back seat, but had to take it out and shove it in 3 different times before I got it to squeeze in there.

My friend with the Explorer will likely be helping me. I was hoping to be able to take my car but I guess not.
Shipping cross border is RIDICULOUSLY expensive because the shipping companies always charge ultra-high brokerage fees.

Probably should have updated this, but we took my friends' Explorer and it just fit in with about 1/2" to spare in terms of height through the rear door/hatch.
With plasma TV's, laying them flat means you are risking breaking the glass and then your TV is basically useless. That's why they ship glass panes vertically on the glass trucks, etc... same concept.
