How much is an '05, automatic, spoiler worth?

With the coming of twins in two months, we find we must sell our beloved TSX ;o(
It's an ABP, automatic, with a spoiler and 11,000 miles on it, and it's in immaculate condition.
Two dealers, selling the car we'll be getting, gave us the same trade-in price;
$22,000!! That's about $1,500 less than both Edmunds and KBB both list as the trade in price. One salesman said Edmunds and KBB are always too high with their prices and dealers don't use them. Of course we'll have to now sell it privately, huge hassle.
Has anyone had any experience/knowledge regarding the aggrevation now confronting us?
BTW, we are so sad over the prospects of having to get rid of our TSX; we just LOVE the car!

Dealers are scumbags. They'll ALWAYS tell you that whatever book you use that shows you a favorable price is wrong, even if they just used that one for the last six deals. "We don't use NADA, they're off the mark." "We don't use this blah blah blah..."

If you want a fair amount for your TSX -- don't trade it in! I thought everyone knew that...

Haha.. Yeah, they'll make a profit on the trade-in, and then make a profit on the new car sale....

I wondered if it was because you'll find it easier in an SUV? I moved from a 2-door that was very hard to get into the backseat, so I look at the TSX and think of how easy it'll be to use the car seat! Heh. Used it tonight even.

If you're doing it because you need some cash, at least it's for a good reason. Gotta think of the family first....

Yes, of course trade-in is less; we didn't trade it in. But my problem now is detrmining exactly what the car is worth. Sites on the Internet that are selling TSXs have prices all over the place.
We're not looking forward to the aggrevation of selling a car privately, but it seems we have to.

22000 seems low but not entirely ridiculous for a non nav one though i think 22,700 to 23k would be much more fair.

(as of late 05 new non navi units are selling for like 25k, not sure how much your spoiler is worth)

if yours has nav, well that is ridiculous.

nobody is gonna pay 23K for your 11K mile TSX if they can run to the dealer and get a brand new '05 for 25K like I did

Because the extra 2k-3k is worth it brand new to them. I originally looked at an 04 TSX w/ 15k miles and the sellers wanted 22.5K firm. The car was NOT in great condition. Paint chipping, couple dents here and there(about 2-3), lady owner did not take care of leather, the backseat was all rubbed up due to babyseat.

in the end, I said kiss my ass 22,5k ?!? are they crazy. Fact of the matter is, the buyers STIL have to pay tax, license, registration on a used car. That bumps up the 22.5 to like $24,300...throw in the apr from loan. Then you're at 26K.

so right now, it is defitnitly not worth it to sell the tsx because nobody will buy it used because the resale value is tooooo high...and they can get a brand new '05 one for 2-3grand more of what private sellers are asking for their 1 year old 10-20K mile TSX.

(forgot to mention, my story is with non-navi auto's)

The TSX is not some miracle car that is exempt from the normal 20% depreciation the first year. (26K+spoiler) - depreciated by 20% is right at 22K. If I was buying used in a private sale I certainly wouldn't pay more than 22K for such a car.

After very aggressive negotiations on my part, including getting up from the salesperson's desk and walking out, I received a phone call from the salesperson; $23,200 for our TSX, and a fantastic lease price for the car we're getting.
I went to another dealer to see if they could beat the deal we were offered and he said he couldn't touch it. He said, "If I were you I'd JUMP at that deal. I can't match it."
So...........the ordeal is over and done with. We are still immensely saddened at the prospects of losing our TSX, but thoughts of the twins on their way makes the loss less painful. What a terrific car!

By the way, dealers apparently don't use Edmund's or KBB for assigning value to used cars. They use Galves (galves.com). I had never heard of it but four separate dealers said they use it.

Thanks for the input regarding my original post.
