I had an AUX MP3 player for a few months, but decided to use the player in the office. Recently, I've learned that 6 CDs in dash are not that bad.

I want to get XM radio (cause I travel a lot), but I don't know if I should trust someone tampering with my radio and my dash.

Trust me, once you live with it for a while you will be hooked! I love all the music stations without the commercials. I also enjoy the talk channels. I never listen to CDs anymore. When did I last buy a CD? I don't remember, but that pays for the XMs $10 a month. Is it bad I am answering my own questions? I don't think so.

XM isn't a necessity for me. I could care less whether I have it or not. However, since I have been driving my parents' 05 Odyssey Touring (it's my daily driver now till my Prelude is done), I'm liking it more because of the commercial free music channels. And the sound quality is much better than FM radio. The only concern I have is that what happen if both my wife's and my car have factory radio with XM, am I going to pay the $10/month subscription fee twice?

Do I think it is a bad for you to answer your own questions? No, I guess I don't.

But, my qusetion is this: Would you feel the same way about XM if you lived in a city that had a dense network of radio stations (like out here in Los Angeles)?

i love my xm! the 90's station has played so many songs that are the soundtrack to my life that i haven't heard or even thought of in years. same goes for the 80's station. there are some rockin' alternative rock stations and the electronica is pretty good.

it's a rare moment that i can't find something on, and i mean very rare!

they have family plans, with purchase of one receiver's subscription, get the next 4 (? i think) subscriptions for $6.95 a month. if you pre-pay by the year, it's even cheaper.

I live in LA and hadn't listern to FM or even CDs in months. Maybe its because I have a long commute 208 miles round trip 5 days a week. I get real time traffic, all the sports talk I want, + whatever type of music I feel like for that day. Has kept me entertained while driving.

I have XM installed in all three of our cars, and I have the Skyfi boombox so that i can listen to XM when I wash the cars or hang around the pool.

I mainly listen to Squizz and ESPN radio, but I also listen to some of the jazz channels and other rock stations at times. News channels are good, too.

There is a good number of stations in San Diego, but there's way too much talking going on. I just can't stand 30 mins of music, 20 of B.S., and 10 of ads.

I'm just curious, but how is it that you have SNHOND3 and XM radio. Just seems like you could utilize one or the other. BTW, glad to finally see a girl with a CG TSX in ATL.

I just had the xm commander added to my car. I like it but it in no way has "Cd Quality" music there is a lot of static and it is not clear. I dont know if it is because i used the fm modulator, im going back to have the installer check it out. Other than that xm is awesome with all the variety.

Incomplete Poll

The poll answer leaves out one important choice...

No, I don't have XM, but I do have SIRIUS!

That is the FM modulator. I have XM in my S2000 with an Alpine deck and Alpine XM tuner and in my TSX with a Terk Commander through the changer port, and both are crystal clear. I used a Terk FM modulator through an aftermarket deck in my GS-R and it sounds like crap. This weekend I am going shopping for an aftermarket deck that can directly interface with the XM tuner, screw that FM modulator garbage. It really sucks.

I would agree with the XM Modulator, it does suck. The worst thing is the loud static burst when you start the car if you don't remeber to turn it down before you exit.

I don't have XM currently, but would definitely consider it for my next car. My dad's new 2005 MDX has it so I look forward to playing with it when I go home for Christmas.

the SNHOND3 is the aux converter, it is plugged into the stock radio so that my xm roady can be hardwired into my stereo. i click the aux/cd button twice and get direct xm signal, no fm modulation. crystal clear sound and it's perfect.

man, I couldn't live without my XM radio

I've been a subscriber since month 1. I was very weary of paying for radio at first, but the quality is so much better. What hooked me in the beginning was the Dance channels, 80-82. I listen to them most of the time as it is. But I have learned to broaden my horizions, and listen to 48 (rock) and 72 Beyond Jazz. Since they are 100% Music Commercial Free, I am diggin it so much more. I'm hooked 4 life. All of my coworkers and friends who love music I conviced into getting it, all love it, and don't understand how they have lived without it.

I do listen to a lot of CD's and have tons of music to listen to, but XM is great!

i have the SNHOND3 running from the stock HU into a Radio Shack Ground Loop Isolator (GLI), which runs into a line amp, which has a 2nd GLI that connects to the power. my GLIs are back under my center console, near my shin (to avoid engine whine). people disagree about the need for all the extras i have in there, but the line amp allows me to not have to turn the volume so far up on the Roady unit (lose a bit of clarity taking the volume from there, i think.) the GLIs add protection from engine whine, but must be located far enough away from an electical source or they will cause whine. you could just use the aux converter and the roady, and fm modulation, but your sound quality will suffer.

I take my car an hour to school every morning. XM is great, because sometimes your just not in the mood for a CD. Once youve used it, you wont yo back to terrestrial radio for nothin!! Love my TSX!

How much did it cost everybody for the xm installed (I assume aftermarket) with the direct stereo connection (no FM modulator)?
