how many miles do you guys avg a year?

I used to have a car with a lot of mileage so I guess I didn't take notice of how many miles I actually put on the car. I've had my car for about a month and 1 week and I have 2100 miles on there.

How much do you guys avg? or should avg?

I am averaging about 1500 miles per month so far. Most of that is joy riding too

Hmm...let's see,

- 160k miles at the time I sold my 90 Prelude, and I had it since new in 7/90, sold in 8/98. So average about 1,650 miles per month or 19,800 miles per year.

- 70,600 miles on the day my 99 Integra was totaled. I had it since new in 3/99, totaled in 4/03. Average about 1,440 miles per month or 17,280 miles per year.

- approx. 114k miles today on my 98 Prelude. I just put 3k+ miles on the car in a week last week (a trip from So Calif to Kansas would do it). Anyway, I have the car since 6/98, so average about 1,820 miles per month or 21,840 miles per year.

- my 04 TSX has about 2,200 miles today, and I bought it in 7/03. So far average about 1,100 miles per month. If I continue with this rate, it would be 13,200 miles per year.

I tried to keep it between 12k - 15k per year. I put about 12K per year on my last 6th gen accord (it was a leased car). How much does the high mileage affect the resale value, alot?

In my 1991 Honda Prelude I was doing around 12,000 a year. I suspect I will be putting more on my TSX because it is even more fun to drive and explore expecially with the NAV.

I have about 1600 miles on my car and I've had it for about 18 days. I think i need to tone it down a bit. Doesn't help that I have a 54 mile round trip to work though.

Put about 23k on my volvo last year. Up to 2,050mi on my TSX so far. (from 8/23. 346 on delivery, ~250 around S Florida and back home, then the rest is commute/sunday driving) I'll probably be in the ~20k range this year.

I just started at my first full-time job (graduated with my BS in June), so I never put many miles on my prior car. I have 1708 miles so far after 5 weeks. That's about 42 miles / day, or 15.2K / year assuming a steady rate.

TSX picked up Aug 21/03. It's around 3800km now. Probably avg or slightly less driving than we'll do over the long term. So that puts it at about 45,000km (29,000mi) per year.

BTW, first speeding ticket w/ TSX was Aug 25. 4 freekin' days. Got a rock chip in the hood and a small scratch on the fender already too. :'( Boohoo. Kind of unavoidable w/ so much hwy driving. Gotta look into that 3M ClearBra stuff.

Drove it off the lot: 8:30 PM. First speeding ticket: 2:15 AM.

That first night, I drove from the Serramonte dealership to my home in Burlingame, then down to pick up my friend in Mountain View (near Palo Alto / Stanford if that helps), then all the way up to SF to a club, then back down to MV to drop off my friend, then back to my house. I was almost there when I got tagged: 92 in a 65, the fastest I'd gone all night. I felt unlucky, not to mention stupid.

I have to go to court (originally by Tuesday, but I extended the deadline by a month online). The county's automated answering system says it's because I was more than 30 over, though it doesn't take a calculator to determine that I wasn't.

On Tuesday, the two-month anniversary of driving my car off the lot, I hit 6,000 miles.

3,000 miles/month=36,000/year.

I guess I'm winning?

50,000 KM is "only" 31,068.56 miles, according to Google. mcourt83 leads at 36,000 miles.

I'm still under 1500 miles... last I checked I was on pace for about 5-6k miles a year. I have only a couple mile commute though. The pace will certainly change if I start taking some road trips.

Yeah, sorry, I wronged myself, and you. I was saying 50,000 miles (80,000KM).

Just forgot to do the conversions on the 28,000km.

That depends... is it american? American cars generally dont have a really high resale value at all. Korean cars (daewoo, kia, hyundai) also have poor resale value cause they tend to want to fall apart after a few years (trust me, a co-worker owned a daewoo and then a hyundai). Although a car like an Acura would have a really high resale value and mileage would affect it a little but not too much.

Hmm...picked mine up 5/22 and it's got just shy of 3000 miles, so that's about 12k per year.

60 miles (100KM) a day in average. I have 2100km(1300 miles) in 3 weeks. That would be something like 22000 miles / year?

Damn, I picked mine up on 8/7, I'm at about 2850. How far do you drive to work? When my sister bought a Passat in 2001, the dealer had a 94 ford taurus with 27k original miles, the senior citizen that traded it in for a passat I guess never drove it anywhere.

My commute is about 80 miles a day so that's 20,800 per year. Yikes.
Plus I drive it at least a LITTLE on the weekends.

Bye-bye, resale value.

My commute is 95 miles round trip to and from work. For the year with road trips and going out on the weekends I should be between 28k-33k on the TSX which is my daily. Plus on the X5 I add another 7k-9k.

The Solara isn't mine...it's my sister's... Her company gave her a car when she moved to CA so I'm taking care of her car for her... been a few years now
Haven't been on any Solara boards..Will check it out.
