I like the screws for the simple fact that if need be I can simply unbolt the brackets. I hate drilling out rivets. What would really be great is if the bolt heads were also black.....
I didn't trust my markings, I kept double checking my results, so I drilled the second set of holes with the plates on the fender as per the directions.
Still even if you drilled both holes, the screws were not drop-ins, you still had to drill them into the fender and plates per sey. So the plate would still kick if you didn't hold it we you ran the first screw down in.

I see your point on the screws, I'm just always afraid that I'll over torque them by accident.
I think I triple checked everything too. Something about drilling into your car.... the thing you take so much car of, makes ya nervous. Know what I mean?
In any event, I do like the darker plates and think they should just send those with all of them. I mean, you get the silver shocks, but black plates... I get the black shocks and silver plates.... geesh.
Still a great mod.

It makes sense, why waste time in the pits propping the hood?
they don't add diddle to the weight of the car.
Plus it's so much nicer not to have to hold the hood and the prop stick. Honda should quit cheaping out and put them on all cars stock, period.

My '96 Ford Thunderbird had stock hood shocks.
My dad's 2000 GMC Sierra has stock hood shocks.
Why not the TSX?! lol

I just installed my Hood Lift ELITE Kit on my 04 today. Very satisfied with the product overall, and the install was relatively painless (once I made a key realization).
The instructions online, and those which ship with the kit, are very off in one regard: they recommend using a 3/8" drill bit to drill the hood-side mounting holes. Even in Home Depot when picking up my drill bits this morning, I thought to myself, that seems freaking insanely large... but I bought the bit anyway. When I actually went to do the installation, I dropped every bit down one size from what the instructions said - so I drilled my pilot holes with 5/32", and my actual holes with 5/16" - and it was a perfect fit.
Just a little "beware" to others who do this install themselves!
Also, I screwed up and dropped one of the four locking pins into my engine bay. So I emailed Redline and hopefully they'll be cool enough to ship me a new pin or two so that I have the peace of mind of knowing my shocks are secure in all four corners.
Definitely recommend this mod.
EDIT: Doh! I just saw that MrChad posted the same thing I did. Oh well, hopefully my tip helps out others like me too dumb to read the whole three pages...

Also, a question... my car was broken in to back in May, and one of the only things the bastards took was my bottle of CGP touch-up paint (I am not kidding). As such, I have no touch-up paint, and wasn't able to paint the drilled holes as the instructions advised. Am I going to have a rust problem now, or was it more of an extra precaution? Now I'm worried.

RedLine Tuning
I ordered a set of hood lifts from RedLine Tuning on Saturday. They promptly shipped them on Monday. I find out that they are only 30 miles from my office, but FedEx put them in the wrong trailer and shipped them to Oshkosh WI. Now FedEx can't find them.
I talked to Brian at RedLine Tuning and he shipped a new pair and hat for my aggravation.
Great people to do business with, FedEx however sucks.

This deal is a "no brainer".

I agree. I love my hood shocks and removed any existance of my hood prop. Just an FYI and this is good for OEM hood shocks, I use a little bit of thin oil (like pneumatic tool oil) to clean the rods 2x per year.
