Honda 2.2l turbo 260hp 260tq

Hey I just read motortrend and they sounded as if they were sure the new RDX would have a 2.2l turbocharged i4 with 260hp and 260tq. I think it would be good for acura...but it would make me feel bad cause ther're probably gonna make a faster TSX now.

I didn't buy the magazine so hopefully someone else will have it and post something

I sure hope that is true. A turbo K-series motor would be most excellent.

Unless you don't want a turbo. Which I don't. YMMV

(still nice to have as an option for those that do, however)

That would be a pretty huge jump for the TSX.

I can see it in the RDX where the tq will be needed to pull all that weight.

why a 2.2 though, they're making a special block just for this engine? maybe the block will be better suited for FI?

We touched on that for a minute in this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...7&page=3&pp=25

My 2 cents:
-this engine will basically be a K24 with sleeves to bring it down to 2200cc while maintaining the same stroke of the K24
-it will also likely feature the new direct fuel injection system which will allow them to run fairly high compression ratios with the turbo (probably in the neighborhood of 9.5:1)
-reduced redline to around 6500 rpm

The 260 hp / 260 lb ft split is tough to do with any 4 cyl in honda's current lineup. The K20 when turbocharged at 9 psi puts out 275whp / 180 lb ft. This K22 would have to be pretty substantially different from anything we have today.

Actually guys, this is pretty well exactly the same conversation we're having in this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...7&page=3&pp=25

I'm going to close this one up but we can keep chatting over there...
