HID DRLs?
Yesterday I came across two recent-looking 3-series which were using their HID lights (outer lights) during the day. It was evening but not dark at all yet, so I'm wondering if the 3-series or any other car actually has HID DRLs now, or if these were posers turning on their HID lights to look cool.
I would be surprised if they were DRLs because then the inner light on the 3-series would be useless... bi-xenon for high beams AND for DRLs... can't think of anything you'd want to use the inner light for.
Just wondering if I should feel jealous.

i believe the inner lights turn on when you just flash the high beams by pulling back, because flashing the high beams for a short time like that are bad for the xenons...but if you have your head lights on and push forward it turns on and holds the hid xenons high beams until you switch it off...
i dont know about BMW having DRL, i would be surprised, most likely they were just trying to show off their xenons...

ur probably talking about the xenon angel eyes (the rings tat surround the actual head lamp) that can be installed on any 3series or 5. ithose look pretty cool and it's pure;y an appearance thing. i saw many bimmers with those installed at hot import nights a few months ago. and i saw a black M3 yesterday afternoon with them on.

BMW's have auto headlights that turn on when its dusk or dark. There is a sensor that senses the amount UV rays outside, in the day time the DRL are on, when the car detects low UV rays the HID's come on, even if its still kinda light out.
Funny thing is, you can't turn off the DRL's if you manually turn off the lights, so you're never really in control of your lights.
I find this feature cool for people who forget to put their lights on, but I never do, and I like to be in control of my lights.

tho ive never owned a bimmer, i understand u can have ur dealership make ur lights (hid or halogen) daytime as well. they just need to program ur car. if u have hid lights to begin with, then the daytime running lights will be xenon if uve programmed it that way.
