Exclamation help...tinting in northern va

hello. i already did a search on the forum and found a tint shop that i may possibly go to, but i'm scared to get my windows tinted. i had a black tsx and that one got wrecked and now i have a pwp one and i want my windows tinted. i don't remember what i had on my other car, but it wasn't that dark. i really want to get 35% all the way around. for those of you that have illegal tint, what % do you have? how do you get your car inspected w/ illegal tint? i have a pic of my wrecked car w/ the tint, but its not all that great.

35% usually won't get you in trouble. I believe VA law is 50% in the front and 35% in the back. I have 35% all around and commute to VA everyday and have not had any trouble by the cops. I think anything darker than 35% will get you into trouble though.

You're right about the sides its 50% but you can be as dark as you want on the back

I am in Northern VA.

If you have parchment interior, get 20% all around.

If you have ebony, get 35% all around.

My 20% on Quartz interior looks very similar to 35% on Ebony.

I just got mine tinted last Friday at Winners Window Tint in Rockville. $289 for ceramic so it doesn't interfere w/ the navigation signal. I didn't want to go illegal so I did 50 % in the front and 35% in the back. My car in black w/ ebony interior so it makes it look darker than it really is. The people at the shop were really friendly and even though it has only been a few days, I haven't seen any bubbling.

When I brought my car in to get tinted there was a black TL Type S getting really dark tint.

$289??? I think you got ripped off my friend. I brought my TSX to Winners and got quoted $180 for the tint. I'm not sure if it is ceramic, but I spoke with the owner about it interfering with the navi and he said it wouldn't.

How long ago was this? I know the ceramic tint is more than the metallic tint. Not sure what you were quoted on. Or I just got ripped off.

This was in feb. or march i believe. I'm not sure if you got ripped off, but I know I paid $180 and I have a navi. I asked specifically if it would interfere and the owner said it wouldn't and it doesn't from what I can tell.

All of the shops that I called in the area quoted me over $300 for ceramic tint, so I thought $289 was a good price.

Based on the price you paid I would guess that you don't have ceramic tint, but if you are not having problems with interference, then I guess it is a non-issue.

I was adamant about getting the ceramic based on other posts that I read on Acurazine.

First of all, DO NOT GO TO TNT TINT.

I went there and all but one of my windows has bubbles in it. Now I have to take it back for him to redo it and wait another 3 days to be able to roll the windows down.

Secondly, I suggest 35%. That's what I got on my Glacier Blue / Ebony and it looks great!

If you don't mind the drive, I used Express Tinting in Centerville, Va on my Scion about two years ago and it was a very good job; no complaints.

I should've went to them but I chose the closer place rather than the trusted place.

I just got Formula One Comfort installed on my TSX in So Cal, 38 front and 30 rear. I wouldn't recommend going lower than 35 in front of you don't want to draw too much attention.
