Help! '06 TSX w/ strange electrical problem
Hello,
I have an '06 Acura TSX with 107K miles that has had a strange problem for several months now.
Symptoms
I have an '06 Acura TSX with 107K miles that has had a strange problem for several months now.
Symptoms
- electronics, lighting, gauge cluster cuts off for less than a second while driving
- sometimes occurs minutes apart, sometimes hours, no clear pattern
- one time gauge cluster froze mid-operation (speed read 50mph while parked for instance)
- replaced battery
- replaced main relay
- had alternator checked (and checked myself)
- looked for loose ground
- tried jiggling starter switch to trigger the problem
- took to mechanic who had it 1.5 weeks with no answers

Could be the ignition-start switch. It's relatively easy to remove and replace.
I had one fail on my 99 Acura TL when it was about 14 years old.
I also replaced one that stared to make noise (indication of imminent failure) on my son's 2004 Accord when it was 13 years old.
My daughter drives our 2008 TSX and she had an electrical glitch the other day. I might just replace switch just to be safe.
Replacement does NOT require new keys or key programing. Just replace and go.
It piggy-backs onto the key cylinder lock mechanism.
Just remove steering column cover and you can access the part.

I think it's also available at most local auto parts stores.
I'm sure there are Youtube videos on the procedure.
