Headlight Issues TSX 05
Hello all,
Coming to this community for advice and assistance. Recently, I've been having issues with my headlights. When I switch on my headlights, I will have some moments where the driver side will come on and vice versa. Sometimes, neither will turn in. I usually have to flick on and off for a bit until it comes on and rarely is it both that will be on. I recently changed my bulbs so I'm positive it doesn't need to be replaced. I also replaced one of the ballast on the passenger side. Still having the issue. I don't want to keep buying parts to do trial error because it's getting expensive. Has anyone had this issue before? |
1. Try swapping out the headlamp (L/R) relay one at a time with a known good relay from a fuse box in your car.
If the lights are still doing the same thing then your Igniters are probably bad. 2. Buy a Igniter and install it on the side that has the new ballast. It should work. 3. Now use the new igniter to test the other headlamp that has the old ballast. If it works then buy another igniter. If still not working then you have a bad ballast. |

No, not replacing any fuse box.
Just playing musical chairs with headlight relays #1 & #2 with another relay from your car. For this part you're not buying anything. Below is an example from a TL. Duplicate the same on your tsx. This is referencing Step #1 in Post #3 above. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...900ef40565.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...e1be255544.png Find your fuse/relay box under the hood. On it hopefully it will state where the Light 1 & Light 2 relay is. There should be a diagram on the cover similar to the pics. Just find an relay that's an exact duplicate of the Light relay and swap them one side at a time and testing it one side at a time. See pics below as examples. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...91af49239e.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...04a951b81c.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...c5b3314d9a.png |
To save money you might consider buying the ballast or igniter use from an U-Pull It or salvage yard... 50% off or more.

Thank you sir! I'll give the fuse a shot first when weather cools down in SoCal. If that fails, I will purchase an igniter.

After countless of days removing the bumper, I've finally figured out the issue. Turns out the igniter was causing all the issue. Extremely glad it was not the ballast.
