Why upgrade to TL for the same price i'd go with the G35c or IS250 possibly 350z, TL isn't worth the upgrade from TSX. You're young why not go for sports coupe. Anyways since your parents is paying for it why not go bigger tell them i want an M3 lol. Just appreciate what you have and not take it for granted.

I love my TSX, really do, but I drove an '06 6mt TL the other day and liked it a lot, too. More torque, seemed to me to handle about the same, a little bigger interior, softer leather. And, oh, that DVD-A sound system. I wish there were a way to add a 24/96 system like that to the TSX.
I wasn't really considering trading or anything, just doing a "drive-by" test drive. But the thought crossed my mind. I just like my TSX too much to trade it off.
I think you guys should apologize to darko. The kid came here asking a simple, legitimate question and got more crap than advice. Sure, it's a forum and all that, but this kid sounds to me like an intelligent guy who just wanted some advice from people who've been around.
On the subject of being handed things, I lease my TSX and I'm reimbursed for the payment, insurance, and maintenance by my employer as a perk. I wouldn't have my job without the bachelor's degree my parents paid for (they also bot me an '86 Isuzu Trooper after graduation). So am I undeserving, too?

These threads...
At 19, if your parents bought you a car, suck it up and deal with it until you can afford to buy a new one for yourself. Thank them profusely for being nice enough to shell out the money to buy you a near $30k car.
It's all about your attitude around here. Your attitude came off as being childish and greedy because you wanted your parents to eat the costs on a new car because you're bored with your current one. Be a little less selfish and think about how this will impact their finances before you even ask for something like this.

The only reason thats keeping me from considering a TL is the fact that its FWD.
Although the S2000 is a completely different car in comparison to the TSX or TL, I am considering it to be my next car.

Worse they should buy these kids these days an older car that isn't expensive to insure, but yet reliable. You should get an early 90s Accord, Civic, or Prelude. Even a 91 Legend or 94 Vigor would suffice.

Hmm... I remember when I graduated high school, the present I got from my parents was a "Congradulations!" and a hug.
Yes, right now I'm driving a brand new TSX that obviously I pay for myself along with all my other bills and college tuition and you know what? Although right now I could probably afford an even better car than a TSX if I really wanted to, it just doesn't make any financial sense to me at the moment.
How could you not be satisfied with a $30k car when you have't accomplished shit yet?

Just for fun I went to KBB to look at what would be an even trade for your TSX considering a private party transaction:
2005 TSX w/ Nav and 15K miles (I assume manual trans) has a price of $23.800. I would also give you $600 credit for the stereo and spoiler for a total of $24,400.
for this price you would be able to get a 2004 TL with Nav, manual trans, and 60K miles.

I was the opposite. I went out initially to buy a TL and ended up driving a TSX while waiting for the TSX demo to return to the dealership. After driving the TSX the TL felt like a huge heavy slug by comparison. That is not to say I didn’t like the TL, as it is a very smooth and refined car, it just has such a different feel to it. The TSX has that edgy responsive agility that begs to be driven again and again.
After that I had to re-think my entire purchase and then look at all of the TSX alternatives…for me that was the A4, 3 Series, WRX, and Volvo S60. I live in a severe winter climate and narrowed my choices down to the WRX and the TSX The TSX was my choice and I have never regretted it, more so with aggressive snow tires, the car is also great fun in the winter.

I have actually thought of trading in the TSX for a TL. But then I quickly thought of something else, why not get a Lexus IS250 with the standard (leather, moonroof, power seats, 17' inch) instead? In Canada, that adds up to about the same price to TL. Yes, TLs are nice, but like some said, too sluggish and I'm not too concerned about the 50hp+ more power.

Just a quick little note here, i just graduated college and was given my 04 TSX 5AT as a graduation present from my uncle, not my parents. He just made partner as a doctor and he upgraded to a TL and bought an old Jaguar to kick around in to keep the mileage down on the TL. I'm a structural bridge engineer and got a pretty solid job making pretty sweet money considering i just got out of school and i have the ability to trade it in for something else. I priced trading it in for brand spanking new G35 coupe and could buy that car for $211 a month for 3 years, which in the long wrong isn't much at all. However, i would NEVER trade this car, one because i do love the car, and two because my FAMILY GAVE it to me!!! When some one in your family, who is the most important thing in my life hands down, gives you a gift like that, i personally just feel that there is no way in hell that i could use it as a trade to get something better for whatever reason. My uncle was so generous, even putting wheels on it before he gave it to me, that i WON'T trade it for years!
Kid, i only got you beat by a few years in age and i understand where your coming from, and by no means am i perfect but wow, you have something to learn with this!

But can anyone shed any light on this?
Again, if someone asked me how I am, I would say "better than I deserve"

So what's your point? I get full ride, book money, and merit based scholarship and work 3 jobs, that doesn't mean anything except that you have some sense of maturity and that you want to get somewhere in life (reward of its own).
If you got the scholarship, I am sure you are capable of looking for your own answers muchless figuring out how to trade in a car.

dude the tsx is one of car and driver's 10 best 3 years in a row. the TL is a sluggish middle-age person car with three kids and a beer gut. the 06 tsx has almost every cabin amenity as the TL too for 5k less. to me it's a no-brainer.
