got offered 50% of price of options... well kind of

The dealership has a black on black with full body kit and wing spoiler. However the only options i wanted was the spoiler and the foglights. They offered to let me only pay like 50% of the full body kit however im guessing they are even willing to just let it all go if i pay full MRSP for both the fog lights and the spoiler and the car. Is that a good deal? Of course they would have to throw in floor mats and wheel locks for free.

Should i take? it should be about 1-2k more then i would have expected to spend though. But none the less it will be a nice ass car.

find out what they pay for the body kit (they will have a sheet with exact prices)
they are offering to charge you 50% of what they markup on their accessories. In the end it might still be a good deal but i think you can get more.

just hold out... you'll always get a better deal if you're willing to hold out. don't get a car that you didn't exactly want just b/c its hard to find.

also, i don't like the spoiler... would rather get fogs like you said.

I never pay for anything I don't want. If you didn't want it in the first place, why pay extra for it.

Depends a lot on what exactly they claim is "50% off". There is in reality no way they could sell the body kit plus install for 50% off if they were selling it to you at Acura's list price (unless they are really losing money), so it sounds like somebody's playing Monte Carlo with the prices. I'll help you out via email if you need.

they're just playing games w/ you trying to tell you the car more than what you wanted to pay, simply b/c of the fact there is a shortage of cars. i don't think that's fair... they're trying to take advantage of you. hold out is my advice again... (unless your car is dying).

They may give you 50% off of their list but they will still charge you full labor for install.

They said 50% of installation as well. Actually they are already installed. You guys are right. I did not want the body kit but since they already have one there, they are willing to sell it for me for less. But i have to hold out anyways til the end of august for insurance purposes.

Let me help you out a bit, numbers-wise.

List price on the body kit is 1169.00, the Acura book time for labor install is 3.3 hours. At our labor rate of $74 per hour, the install cost is 244.20. From the list price of 1169.00 and the labor of 244.20 (yours may vary), the total "official" list price of everything involved should come out to be 1413.20, plus applicable taxes.

So, if they are offering you the whole body kit installed for 706.60, that's a hell of a deal!

but he would still be paying msrp for the car. most people are still getting about $1k off of msrp, so technically, he's only saving $700... not even $1k. and since he's paying for extra options, he should be able to get more than $1k b/c the car is not more expensive.

prolly another ploy the dealers use to sell the car... sounds like a sweet deal, but nothing to brag about.

Well, dealers usually take one of each of their models and "trick" them out for the showroom. We'd install most of the accessories. When I sold we would take a civic and put on the alloy wheels and some aftermarket leather with custom H embroidered and suede inserts and what not. Sure we'd try and sell it, but it was more of a "look at what can with this car"

Now, there are some shitty dealers that will do things like the instant the cars get PDI'ed they hit them with mudflaps, pinstripes and spoilers just try and make more money. That is something I dont agree with and I always tell the dealer "you did this without my asking so you can a) remove it b) not charge me for it c) I'll happily take my business elsewhere.
